MEETING TIME: 5:30pm at Hoppy Brewing Company on Folsom Blvd, by 65th st. We have a table reserved at that time for some delicious food before we head out. Some are just dropping by to say "hi" so even if you don't want to see lights, come on out.
.
ROUTE CHANGE - Changed because some houses are kind of blah, so they were taken off.. plus fewer stops gives us more time to see things. Here is the link to updated route http://g.co/maps/mya7h
.
THE DATE HAS BEEN SET: December 9th!! - Check back periodically just in case I have to change the date for some reason.

I hope I posted this in the right forum as the actual meetup forum seemed to cover to broad of an area for what might be just a small meetup for Cali dwellers.. Anyways, now that I liveback in Sac-to I would love to get a meet up going this December (probably early Dec) to do a Sacramento Holiday Light tour with fellow Mazda owners. I will be posting on various forums to get the vast array of Mazda's to join. Feel free to post and talk with friends to get them interested. I am thinking of hitting up at least two spots to check out the lights and before we tour the lights we can meet up for a coffee/hot chocolate and/or food... this will be family friendly event to bring together Mazda enthusiasts... and share what little (or lot) of what we have done to the cars and everything else.

If you like this idea let me know in reply's to this thread and I will start getting deep with this to make it happen!! Until then I'll plan a route I want to do but if more get interested I will post questions to get people suggestions as good spots to meet before and good spots on the list of holiday light visits!! The good thing is it will be at night so we can meet on weekdays if need be and after people get off work!!

This will be a fun group meet up, family friendly, and of course filled with the holiday cheer!!

Until then keep the Zoom-Zoom!!

So it looks like we are getting some people that like the idea and down for it... We(I) am in the process of getting dates.. looking at 2nd weekend in December and I'm looking at routes depending on how much driving people are willing to do... Once I get more exacts I will let people know.

but If you have suggestions let me know, or dates that work for you let me know as I will get the majority on this and work around that from all forums I have so far posted. Luckily it is a few weeks away so I will give a couple days for people to see what dates around the 2nd weekend will work for them.

Ok I got some dates in my head and lets see if any one of these three works out good for you all!! I'm looking at December 9th, 10th, or the 11th meet up around 4-ish and depart around 7pm... Note: we can also do a contingency if it rains, set one date but have a backup date if its raining!

The route, meeting location, and meeting time should be figured out no later then tomorrow (Tuesday the 6th).. I'll keep everyone in the loop when it is done!

Well I just got a route completed!!!!!! All stops are listed in the SacBee from the Dec 2nd paper. So If you have the paper you can read the description of each stop. For those that don't be prepared to see multiple light shows at different locations that go to the radio, houses that range from 10k lights to 80k lights and a place that does a light show with around 250k lights!! Be ready to see 8ft toy soldiers and characters, 24ft stars, 40ft christmas trees, multiple cartoon characters like mickey, snoopy, etc. moving trains, moving planes, walk under arches, etc. etc. etc.! Total mileage 26 miles! not bad in my opinion.

Some places are taking donations! So if you can, lets bring some donations! (cool) Here are the areas we will stop at that are accepting donations and what they will be accepting as a donation:

One location will be accepting new and used toys for Sutter Memorial Childrens Hospital
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Rosie-Carollo-Christmas-Lights-Toy-Drive/182968201789124

Another will be accepting donations for WIND (local shelter for homeless youth ages 12-18) Items requested include socks, underwear, gloves, pajamas and umbrellas. No Link Given

Another will be accepting non-perishable food items or canned goods for Kawanis Family House (Right now they say they are not done setting up the light show here, this is the one with 250k+ lights, i'll continue to check up on the website for updates) http://www.lightupxmas.com/

Here is the google map I created and saved! (Note: Some reason it didn't save the final destination (bang) which is Dovewood Ct., Orangeville, CA after 5201 Brondsbury ln, Fair Oaks, CA) :-/

I also created a PDF version for others to print, so if you want it email me at mrmisterjames@gmail.com. I'll print out a couple for those that may show up unexpected. If everyone has a map, hopefully we wont get split up, and/or lost. I will also give people my phone number when we meet so if we do get lost you can call me and we can get back together. More then likely many of these places we will stop and walk a little bit, I know Dovewood Ct. we will pretty much be forced to walk!

What is a good meet up time for people? I don't work so any time is a good time for me...

I'm excited for this, sounds like it will be a fun ride!! Hope everyone can make it out, and invite some people!! (eekdance)

I just got back from a recon of the route (because my dad could only do it tonight, and he wanted it just me and him), I think there are some not worthy locations on the route ... two places didn't seem that great

I will take 32nd st off, 42nd and 43rd st are cool to drive down to get to J street to get to Morley ways house (which is really well done). I will also take off 7520 Fair Oaks blvd (they still don't have it setup), Kenneth Ave is not really spectacular as well as Brondsbury lane... I timed my drive as 2 hrs (including stopping and walking around at some of the locations) with the above included. I have no children so it may take a little longer with children...

I'll redo a map to reflect the changes... with changes I am sure it will take no more then 2 hrs to finish the route. Of course at Dovewood we took the most time...

Ok here is the route with the streets that are kind of blahhh (hahaha) taken off http://g.co/maps/mya7h
