Non Bose HU Pre Outs?

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out if my factory HU has pre outs. I have a 2007 Mazda6 non-Bose single CD system. I want to hook up a Bazooka Tube (I know they are cheap) but I was told I need at least 1 pre out for it to work. Actually, I think he said I need 1 RCA pre out?

Anybody have any idea?

Thank very much...

Nope.

All you need is a Line Output Converter, LOC
Tape the speaker wires to the LOC and then you got your RCAs

However som ebazooka tubes have them built in.

Bazooka tubes are terrible...sorry but it had to be said. Unless your getting it for free, dont bother

1sty,

Thanks for the info... The Bazooka is just a low cost alternative for me right now. I really don't require a lot of bass, I just thought it would be nice to have a little more...

Thanks... :)

More stuff...

Well.... I went to Circuit City and bought the Bazooka Tube, and, they had a 4 channel Eclipse EA4000 amp $400.00 but I got it for $160.00 because it was an "open box" item. I didn't get the box but I got the warranty. For the price I couldn't walk away from it... (sssh)

It's been replaced by the new model the EA4100, but the specs are the same...
4/3/2 channel amp
75W x 4 at 4 ohms
MOSFET switching

Power
CEA 2006 rated Yes
Power (watts RMS into 4 ohms x channels) 75 x 4
Power (watts RMS into 2 ohms x channels) Info unavailable
Distortion (THD%) at rated power 1%
Bridged power x channels (4 ohms) ? 150 x 2
Peak power x channels (watts) ? 400 x 2
Signal to noise ratio (dB) ? >90 dB
Design
Built-in crossover Yes
Number of channels ? 4-channel
Adjustable bass boost Yes
Type Stereo

It's all being installed right now... (headbang)

I do plan on doing "some" of the work later like hooking up the Audio Link USB MP3 Player Integration Kit.

This way I can play MP3's via a USB thumb-drive.

I'll post the results... (band2)

My thanks to everyone for your input... It really is appreciated...

What do you guy's like for tweeters???

I went with Infinity - 6" x 8" Custom-Fit 2-Way Car Speakers Model: REF6822CF (http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8211053&type=product&id=1166234894779)

It's all installed. MAN!!!! IS it LOUD!!! It's very clear and that's really what I wanted. The amp is turned up half way and the sub is turned up 2/3. It's got plenty of bass for me (you can feel it!) and I actually had to turn down the treble it was so bright... :) (band)

I'm very happy... Next thing it the MP3 integration kit....

Good amp and speakers. I never really liked infinity as I think they are way to bright. Great quality though.
The gain of the amplifier is NOT a volume adjustment so if that is what you are refering to as 1/2 and 2/3 the way up then this is very inaccurate.
The gain of an amplifier purpose is to ell the amp what voltage the factory head unit is putting out. Too low and you will not get the full amount of amp you paid for. To high and you will just throw distortion at the speakers/tube, when the head units volume (voltage) goes higher then what the gain knob is telling the amp it is capable of giving it.

1sty,

Interesting... The installer said that the amp was only turned up about half of the way, or maybe using half of its available power? I don't know. He said it could be turned up much louder but I can't even use what it's set to now! It can be very loud... But, it is crystal clear when turned up. That's really all I car about. I don't want to have to where ear plugs... (boom08)

The sub woofer has a volume knob on the back of it and that is turned up about 2/3. I noticed that there are 30 amp fuses (2 of them) on the Bazooka tube. I'm assuming that they will prevent me from blowing the unit up? I'm probably not even going to turn it up any but I'm curious.

Thanks for the input as always. You know, I really like this forum. (cool)
