Noises from the Dash on the Mz5 Too?

I have a 09 M5 and it makes a single crack type noise that sounds like it comes from the base of the windshield when we hit bridge joints or other bumps like that.

Same here on an 08 M5. Cracking sound from base of windshield area when cold. People keep talking about that TSB but I don't see one for the 5, only for the 3. Has anyone had a dealer successfully perform the TSB on the 5 or actually solve the problem?

Sadly, I must report the windshield noise is also on our 2009 M5. As others reported, it started when the weather cooled significantly. It is a plasticky, windshield-creaking sound when we go over significant bumps, and maybe also with the wipers--I'll pay closer attention the next time it rains.

I can let you know (hopefully) this evening. My dealer has ordered replacement windsheild trim (interior) that he thinks is the source. Should be getting my car back after work today. Having the windshield re-sealed by a glass guy didn't help. Thankfully, I'm not out any $$ so far...

So how'd it go?

Sorry - it got CRAZY yesterday. Well, the dealer still has my car. After replacing the trim (see posts above), he said they can still hear the noise, so he's got a call in to his technical rep to see if they can troubleshoot it.

Oh, well, they're giving me a rental to drive at no charge to me, so as long as it doesn't take a month or something, I'm fine (so far).

Latest update - it's been raining for a few days here, and the svc dept says rain makes it hard to isolate a noise around the windshield. Acceptable. It's also getting warmer here. They want to bring this tech rep in next week so they can look and investigate together.

They said today that the noise is stll there, but they wanted me to pick it up and bring it back when the tech rep comes next week. Fine. Also, it had quit raining when I picked it up & came home. NO NOISE. I'll drive it over the next few days to see if this is consistent. If it is, I'll tell them not to bother. It was so nice to get my baby back!!
