No rear wiper on the MS6????

AWD...say Bye Bye
:
Titanium MS6
Ok so been poking around with the idea of buying a speed 6...went down to the dealership to test drive one....and to be honest I like the styling of the regular 6 better....so I was talking to the salesman and asked how much extra it would run to swap out the rims for the regular 5 spoke rims and to add a rear wiper and the "high" spoiler...He told me none of those options are available on the speed version...that kinda irritates me...it seems like you should be able to get whatever the hell you want on the flagship version of the model....was this guy just jerking me around or will I have to decide between styling and performance?

I think you might just have to find the right dealer. Some are sticklers for option rules, but others want the sales bad enough or are just cool guys.

I was able to find one in texas that would give me an rx8 with leather, but not the GT package.

The rear wiper is on the Japanese spec MS6 (I'm not sure about Europe), but it's not here. There is no option for it, or a "high" spoiler on the US spec cars. You can find the Japanese spec MS6 at http://www.mazda.jp

With enough money, you can do anything you want. I happen to like the understated look of the MS6. Make yours look however you want.

The rear wiper is only available (in the states at least) on the 6 hatch or wagon.

Would the 6 sedan (or Mazdaspeed6) really need it? I don't see a rear wiper on any other midsize sedans.

I'm sure someone would gladly trade you some stock 6 wheels and spoiler for the speed parts.

The wiper could be a can of worms though...as it's not really an option, it's just a model specific part.

YEah for the wiper you'd seriously have to swap the MS6 engine, drivetrain, suspension, etc into a 6 hatchback. That would be painful.

Rear wipers are ... as far as i know.. only on hatchbacks... Mazda 6 has a hatchback version... similar to the sedan... and some like hatchback over the trunk... just depends on who you are

But the standard 6.. and the MS6.. are almost EXACTLY the same... front hood.. and rear bumper are just about the only body differences.. on the outside....

But speed6 doesn't come in hatchback like the standard 6... my guess is.. you saw the hatchback 6.. liked it.. and expected speed6 to be the same.. or have that option...

You won't have the option of getting a rear wiper on the MS6 no matter where you go. Wheels and spoiler should be a different story though. I have read on a different forum that when a guy bought his MS6 he got the dealer to trade out his MS6 wheels for a set of polished RX8 wheels. I wish I would have read that before I bought my MS6. I don't like the wheels much and they are a pain in the ass to clean!

if the sales man wants to make a sale tell him to march his ass into the parts department and get pricing for a spoiler on a mazda6 and the regular wheels from a 6s sport package. the spoiler is in the price book and the wheels can be looked up by VIN in the electronic parts catalog. s*** if you want me to i will even get you the part numbers so the lightweight can take them to his parts department and get you pricing.

yea the rear wiper is just an after thought, but I'm gonna b**** and moan about the rims and the spoiler....actually probably the rims the most...not sure why they just don't appeal to me...but then again my corvette, gsx, bike, and 5.9 Grand Cherokee all have/had 5 spokers so I think its just a habit at this point..

one of the MPS concepts was a hatchback, thats why you occasionally see photos of a rear wiper. None of the 6 sedans came with the option for the rear wiper. I think a larger wing type spoiler would look out of place on the speed 6. They designed it to be subtle, mature, and quick as a tourer. They didn't go for the "sport sedan" look so to speak. That's probably why you won't be able to find many of those options.

i know a car that has:
high spoiler
6 spoke wheels
and rear wiper

:)

seriously though, your dealer should trade wheels and trunks with a normal 6 that has the options you want. if not go to another dealer that will, or tell them you were talking to another local dealer and they said they would do it for you. you could probably do a rear wiper but it wouldn't look super clean like it should cause it's not meant to have one

That is one thing I wish the Speed 6 had was a rear wiper.
The Evo comes with one, and that is a sedan.
I also wish there was an option for the rear high spoiler, I'm not about to go change out my trunk and get the new trunk sprayed to match my car, just for the sake of a spoiler, and I don't want to pull the original spoiler off the trunk I have now, cause the holes probably won't match up,
although if I was serious I would get another trunk with the high spoiler attached.

Yep MPS 6 model was JDM Spec hatchback and the hatchbacks get those wipers and spoiler options. the spoiler wouldn't fit the sedans iirc unless you laser carve holes in the window or break the seal around it to mount it. Mazda wanted to make a car that was stealth speed like legacy GT and not "Aggresive Speeder" like WRX STi.

No, they shou;dn't swap that stuff...unless you want to pay them an arm & a leg extra for it

a good dealer would do it to sell the car. it'll get them the car sold as well as allow them to sell the cheaper car for more because it has mazdaspeed parts on it. all for 20 mins of labor. there are really no downsides for them. sure they're not going to volunteer to do it but if you're halfway decent at negotiation they'll do it

actualy a dealereship did it in texas. there was a legacy 2.5i with a 2.5 GT trunk. I thought I was getting a sweet deal on a new gt but it wasn't after asking. GT owner didn't want the wing so he swapped lids. Hey original poster, how do you like your speed 6 and did you ever git it the way you wanted?

Does anyone have a pic of the MPS 6 model that was JDM spec hatchback??? I've never seen one before...

For me it's not the rear wiper I want. I truly wish they had made the Speed 6 in hatchback form though, because, well, I was parked aside a fully loaded 6 hatch, and to be honest, it simply looks nicer and sportier then my Speed 6. Just my opinion, but my friends agree. The hatch to me looks nicer. I love it, but I had to take the AWD and the HP. ;)

Car doesn't need the rear wiper, but it needed to be a hatchback, not a sedan. That's where IMO Mazda went wrong, but I love my Speed 6 nonetheless. ;)
