No power at all from a stop

didnt you know? msps suck and you should sell it......most msp owners seem to think so anyway

Nah, it's just that the few who aren't intelligent enough to realize what a great car they have are a very vocal minority.

time for a FMIC group buy!(thumb)

If iON were to have another FMIC GB right now, I'd be on it like stink on shiz, even if it just eliminates shipping.

You reading this Jack? :)

Haha, you guys are funny. Don't get me wrong, I love my MSP, but lately I have been thinking maybe there is something wrong with it. Although, after hearing from some of you it seems like I am not the only one with this problem.
try driving it with a 8lb. flywheel.....2k IS taking it easy on the clutch lol.
Actually, i was thinking a lighter flywheel would help the power at lower rpms, but I'm no pro at this stuff so maybe I shouldn't try that.

Seriously though, what are your opinions on how I should try to fix this:

1) Always rev it up and wait for the clutch to die, then get a better aftermarket clutch?(will that fsck up my tranny at the same time?)
2) Get a new intercooler to fix heat soak(assuming that is even part of the problem here, i don't know)
3) UDP?
4) What else could help me with hp at low rpms?

My money situation is doing ok at this point, I don't mind spending a few hundred to fix a problem like this, but my bank account is not limitless either. I plan on adding more mods in the future anyways. So taking that into consideraton, what would anyone here consider the best course of action?

BTW, assuming I'm ever really satisfied(highly dubious), these are the mods I have in mind at this point:
Custom exhaust
Sri w/ heatshield
new intercooler
ebc
jethotted exhaust mani
upgraded clutch?
lighter flywheel?

starting from around 2k is fine, I do it all the time. I need to now that I have engine mounts, otherwise the whole car will shudder. Its not like your dropping it at 2, just ease it in and your clutch will be fine. Im just shy of 30000 miles and have other power mods to, and my clutch is still doing well.

I do believe it was inteded as a joke.... but who knows. it probably stems from the MANY MSP owners who dont appreciate what they have, simply because they have a problem or two.... go buy a car with some real problems... like say... a KIA... then talk

I guarantee it is because you have your A/C on. I can drive fine with it on, but sometimes I will really bog down from a start. Sounds like the same "problem" you are having. I don't really consider it a problem, because on a little 4 banger with extra stress on it, you can't expect it to take off with nice low V-6 torque with the A/C on.

did u guys notice that even when shifting....say from 1st to 2nd or 3rd.....with AC on, the car bogs down?
kinda like the RPMs just drop too fast....

oh man do i know what that feels like... its like shifting from 1st to second i gatta do it soo fast or else the rpm gauge just drops. On average driving if i shift at around 4k rpm by the time in acctually fully shifted my rpms have dropped to like 3k (yes i know how to properly shift) it just feels like its got NO power witht he ac on

kia honors their warranty though. It wouldn't be such an issue if it wasn't such an uphill battle everytime I need something warrantied through mazda.

Well it 106 f. out side ATM were iam at ( So.Calif.) and i use the AC alot at this time of year it heat soak with a so so IC but u take the good with bad on a turbo car . I readed a car mag. test on a EVO 8 that could not break into the 100 MPH range at a track in So Calif. it was over 100 when they
tested to (it ran 99 MPH ) a FMIC will help but the bottom line is turbo cars don`t run as good in the heat.

And yes mine feels weak when driving in stop and go traffic when it hot out and ac on i just use a highter RPM to start off with when in traffic.

I bet a water injection and or intercooler sprayer would help out a bit with these issues. But yes, heat does greatly affect turbo'd cars!

Even without the a/c on, my car still feels like it's not going anywhere until about 1.5k rpm's. This is usually on a warm, humid day after being on the freeway for a while. I'm sure heatsoak is a big issue.

My rpm's also drop really quick when shifting with the a/c on. Kind of annoying, but it happens with nearly every 4cyl. They just don't spin the compressor easily enough because they don't put out torque like a v6!
