i always get the "wow that is a really nice color how much did you pay to get it painted" and when so-called car guys ask me what i drive and i tell them msp they are like whats that and tell me there was never an msp

yeah some young douche rolled his Evo over a hilll, that was his first car & thought it was untouchable. Needless to say i didnt kno there were cameras snapping pictures when i was under the hood lol I like it

i was actually going to start a thread on this exact same topic.. quite ironic i get it all the time. I think an average joe's first assumption is you put the rims and all the body mods on the car. I actually had a whole bunch of Mazda 6 Club guys looking at my car, they'd never seen under the hood etc etc.

I think people just think we bought that badge and stuck it on in 5 mins.

When people know what it is and you give them the story behind it, then they appreciate it a little bit more.

But i do get the "oh i thought you put those rims on" alot

yeah, when i've gone to auto stores and stuff, i've had people come back in after they left and ask me about the paint, then they look at me funny when i tell em its a factory color.

Good luck on finding a spicy, its a really amazing color, but it does attract alot of attention (both good and bad) towards you. Whereas i've been at a light across from a black MSP and not even noticed it till the last second. Neon Orange definitely puts you 'on the radar'.

Back when I was stock, people thought i bought the wing, wheels, turbo, etc and put it on the car. I kept telling everyone everything was factory installed and they would have a really confused look on their face. And then they would ask, "What year? I never heard of a mazdaspeed protege, is it new?"

Yah know, this board is the only place i see people go crazy for the spicy orange, most of the guys I work with give me a hardtime about the color is some way or other... "yeah that's a pretty nice car, but whats up with the color" stuff like that or "ever thought of getting it painted?". But then again, random people do approach me all the time to say something about it good, bad or indifferent.
Of course on the negative side of attention, I was lucky enough to get a sweet key gash the length of my passenger side, I'm guessing because it caught his or her eye, bastards...

Hey one cool thing about people not knowing what they are is, when you enter car shows you can win cause they think you fixed up a regular Protege !

i usually get nice EVO, i been asked how much was that paint job, the thing i hate the most is having to explain the differance between the 2003 and 2003.5.

The one thing that is great about having a spicy or yellow car is that when you park somewhere you can always find your car, well that the case for me

At least no one has said that they get there's confused for a Mustang all the time. There are some supremely ignorant people in South Mississippi that don't know their ass from a hole in the ground. When they say "Nice mustang", I just wanna look at them and say, "............Are you stupid?". But it usually comes out as "Don't you mean Mustang killer?".

i just like the looks on Mazda drivers' faces.. like younger guys driving mx-6s or i saw one guy driving an ES Protege with the 03.5 MSP wing on it and i passed him on the opposite side of the street, definately got his attention.

Some people do know but not alot.. neighbour had a Mazda 6 meet acrosss the street i had all the Mazda 6 guys looking at my car.. some have "heard" of it and never seen under the hood etc etc..

this sucks...i cant speak for everyone but around these parts there is a very very poor customer foundation. Really hardly any ads runnings and gotta travel hour or more to get warranty work done....I mean i stop at a traffic light and lose track of the Honda's that surround me!! C'mon Mazda step up already!
