No New Mazda2 for the United States

Yes and no. I understand the reasoning from a sales standpoint. I don't like it personally though as I am fond of the Mazda 2.

I'm just happy the car came to the states at a time that I could buy one. Isn't our DE lighter then the DJ anyway and more power potential with the MZR engine family. I always wanted to buy a new Mazda and in 2011 Mazda let me. I would have never bought a 3 in a million years. Some of the 3s weigh about as much as my truck.

You can't have this America. Try not to get sad. :(

Not sure why Mazda is trying to copy VW's GTI colour scheme on the new 2. The blacked out roof and mirrors doesn't work (at least for me) either.

Hey all, I stumbled upon this forum while trying to learn more about the 2 and what kind of support there is for them on the web as far as forums go. I'm looking to pick one up relatively soon. Couldn't help but see this thread and I think maybe I can offer some hope! I work at a Mazda dealership in Northeastern PA, and today I told one of our sales guys how sad I was that we weren't getting the new 2. He looked at me like I just grew another head. He says that as far as he's aware, the new Mazda 2 is coming to the US and that our dealership is set to get a few of them soon. He doesn't really have details on them yet but he's rather confident that we are getting them and they will be sold here. So maybe we can't count the next generation out just yet? :)

Hmmm

I wish I believed you.

This however is also interesting:
"Mazda2 production is under way in Mexico. Mazda has committed to selling the Mazda2 in Canada but hasn't said when the car will arrive in the U.S. Are dealers disappointed?

You know, I don't think it has really disappointed any dealers, the delay.

We know that it's going to be coming out. But they've devoted some of the resources, I believe, toward CX-3 rather than Mazda2. We're certainly looking forward to it, but it's not been a big disappointment. It never was a big seller. Not that it couldn't be, but we don't have anywhere near the excitement that we have for the new CX-3."

Are you disagreeing that the Mazda 2 will come here, or just that it will be around in the near future? Because if anything, that article actually kind of supports what I heard. They're not saying that it isn't coming here, just that there is a delay on its arrival. Which, of course, we know since the new generation has already shown up elsewhere. Obviously I can't say for sure when it will be here, but as far as the sales department at my dealership knows, we'll be receiving the Cx-3 and Mazda 2 at some point. Possibly the Cx-3 beforehand, and I wouldn't be surprised if everyone was generally more excited about the Cx-3 - it is a new addition to the line-up, after all. If anything, I think we're all going to end up playing the waiting game until some solid news comes about or until someone sees a new 2 roll off of a truck onto the lots. All in good time :)

I just meant I don't wanna get my hopes up again only to have them crushed. At the point, most of the evidence has spelled bad news for us here in the USA. Most sources have claimed it's being discontinued for us in favor of the CX-3. And yes, that article does agree with you.

I'm not surprised that Mazda dealers are excited for the CX-3. It's what American's typically like and it helps a lot that it is a very nice looking car. But come on, it's a hatchback on a lift kit. I bet American's wouldn't be interested at all if it was the same car, but sold as a hatchback. Make a hatchback ride higher and BAM!, American's just love it.

Let's hope that guy knows what he's talking about. On one hand we have several of you hearing the same from local Mazda dealers. We have magazines reporting that it is coming the US. Then we have Mazda saying that it isn't coming, or that it's still under consideration, or that it'll come later on.

At this point. Who knows! We'll find out eventually.

I just emailed all my local Mazda dealers and asking if they will be selling the all new 2016 Mazda 2. Lets see what they say.

This girl is pretty confident that she knows what she's talking about ;) I'd like to see what the dealer near you says, though I'm confident it'll be similar to what I heard. I think we can have some cautious hope here, maybe the reps from Mazda are misinformed or perhaps keeping it under wraps for some reason?

For all our sakes, I hope you are right. I'm not sure how much longer my 2002 Honda Accord is gonna limp by, and I'd really prefer buying the new 2 over the CX-3.

Interesting. Looks less bubbly, lower, wider, longer at the front, meaner and just over all more muscular to me than the current 2.

I personally dont like the overall look of the new 2. Its taller and more bloated looking. One thing i do like about it over the current 2 is the front end looks much more aggressive.
