Do you guys know who sells a repair manual for our cars I need one want to get some info on the valve adjustment.

ive been looking for one ever since i bought my P5 in late 2002 .. .at that time, the guy at the store (Canadian Tire) said it might take another 6 months to a year before it's released since the 2.0L was a newer engine. So i said fine ... year and a half later i got the speed and now it's like 2 and a half years, and they still don't have it =\

i really want this too ... so if anybody can find one, let us know =)

So I guess we cant adjust our valves we just have to replace shims I could of swore I saw in the service manual it said check the valve adjustment at 5k. How would you even fix it if it was off at 5k put new shims in alrdy that doesnt seem right. Maybe i misread the manual.

There is a factory service manual...but it is somewhat vague compared to Bentley or Haynes manuals (it isn't nearly as geared towards home mechanics...and always brings up s*** with special service tools)...

and yes...we have solid lifters in the protege versions of the FS engine...so you can only adjust things by means of shims...when they say "check valve clearance", they are referring to the use of a feeler gauge to pinpoint the cam lobe/tappet clearance...if it is out of place, shims correct it...You check it at 5k simply to make sure everything broke in properly...you then do it every 60-100k miles...

Yeh i know they mean use a feeler quage but wouldnt want to take the cams out if they wernt just right i would install some mazda speed cams if i had to do that.

i have the manual on a CD at home ... i'll post it here tonight or tomrrow when i find it. PM me if i dont (in case i forget)
