Alright, I'm thoroughly confused on NJ's emissions laws & testing.
I want to replace my exhaust (specifically, just the downpipe for now). The stock downpipe has two cats, with an O2 sensor between them.
APEX sells a 2.5" downpipe with a single high-flow cat. So, the O2 sensor would plug into the same place (after one cat), so it shouldn't throw a CEL.
Is this legal in NJ? If it can pass the tailpipe emissions test, does it even matter that I replaced the cats?
What would happen if I got pulled over and a cop checked under my car? I don't think I would have a problem because I wouldn't be catless, but I can't get a clear answer from reading the laws.
