Nitto NT850+ Installed. Not terribly impressed.

Hi all, just wanted to add my .02 about the Nitto NT850+ tires. I was previously running the Bridgestone Dueler HL 400s on my CX-9 Touring (18in).

I was expecting more from the tires after the reviews I read, but now after about 500 miles here are my impressions:

- Slightly higher road noise than the HL400 around town
- Slightly lower road noise on the highway and over expansion joints
- About the same handling characteristics, turning braking aggressively
- There hasn't been any rain so I can't say how they'd do in the wet. The tread pattern has pretty aggressive channels so I'd imagine it's pretty capable in heavy rain.

On the plus side, they're cheaper than most other brands (I found them for $137.85 online) and have a 50k factory warranty. The profile seems slightly higher (visually) which tends to fill the wheel gap a bit more.

Overall I'd say they're a good buy if you need a set of less expensive tires with a higher mileage rating. They're pretty close to the Bridgestones in terms of ride quality and I've had good experiences with Nitto tires in the past.

I don't know what reviews your read and where but if these are the tires I am familiar with, they will ride harder with age and get noisier. Fortunately, they won't last long. That warranty is likely pro-rated and will be near worthless by 20,000 miles. Oh, and it's only for replacing those tires with new Nitto tires.
