i would love to get a CO2 or NO2 sprayer for my IC..They are very helpful at lower intake charge temps. They essentially freeze your intercooler.

Get a cold can and a windshield solvent sprayer and use cold water, it'll be a lot cheaper in the long run.

when nitrous is sprayed on the intercooler, its cools the intake charge.

my future mods include this:

a 35-50 size jet, with the purge over my FMIC. So not only will i have a direct shot of nitrous, i will also purge (spray) the FMIC to cool the intake charge !!!

my plans are big turbo in the future FYI ...

nitrous = faster spool !!!

no offense, I guess I should keep this opinion to myself but spraying NO2 outside the engine is a waste of Nitrous Oxide, I know it will cool the charge and so on but that sh@t is too expensive to be blowing out in the open air. With the hundreds of dollars that you will be spending on something that you have to keep replenishing you can certainly spend on something that will make your car permanently faster. But if you are rich and or you are running low 10's and just want to get a 9 second timeslip then go ahead.

i agree... its pretty expensive for what it does... you could run water injection. the only thing you'd have to replace is the windshield wiper fluid.

umm... you don't sound too knowledgeable about nitrous in general. the purge is setup to clear/clean the delivery lines of unwanted air and vapor, so when the shot is engaged, you get the quickest and cleanest delivery.

Instead of purging to the atmosphere or ground, might as well purge that unwanted NO2 on the intercooler !!!

read up some more on nitrous and you will understand.

and if you look back at my original post, i am going with a 35-50 shot WITH the purge setup in front of the IC so i get the advantages of a cooler charge as well.

cashmere, I think Lenny was just saying that using nitrous exclusively to cool intercooler is a waste. I agree. In fact, I've seen some tests (most notably done by Buschur Racing) that show that the gains from spraying N02 on the intercooler is actually from the N02 being ingested in the intake.

Your idea of purging onto the intercooler is a good one, might as well make use of the wasted N02.

You guys don't realize what damage you are going to do to the coil packs, and valve cover. Also, That kind of cooling is going to cause contraction cycles on the aluminum and steal valve cover/head that will show up as premature leaks and cracks. Stick with ice water sprayer resevoir for a TMIC.

Cashmere you are correct , I was not counting on running NO2 and purging onto the IC I was only speaking about what I believe the majority of kids are doing which is just setting up a "ring" around the IC and spraying it down to cool it without ever having any NO2 go inside the motor and while I am no authority on the subject I have run a big block chevy on a single stage 175hp shot and a small block on 125hp shot........the only thing I cannot figure out about my speed 3 is what is this ECU people talk about......just kidding..sorta.

QFT

There is no need to use anything but a water spray on the IC, s*** you don't even really NEED the water spray it's just +1 ;)

Nothing is going to happen to the cover from spraying nitrous.. Its very thick.

for those using water for the IC, you can make a simple abs plastic drip pan if youre that concerned about water dripping on the coils/head.

The coil packs also have a rubber gasket around the hole.. With the use of 50/50 distilled water/meth mix, it will evaporate quickly. You could tape up the connectors or simply put di-electric grease within the pigtails.

um...i have no worries. i have a FMIC remember !!!

i'm a post *****, so let me post a pic of it again !

I'm sure you explained this before but since you're a post ***** maybe you could fill me in here :D Did you have to do much cutting of stock internals there to get the FMIC installed?

stock internals ? you mean, trimming the bumper, etc... ?

nope ... didn't trim much of anything.

just relocated several things ( recirc hose, a couple vacuum hoses we shortened, etc...)

Sure, lol. That doesn't sound so bad, how long was install time?
