NEWS! Apex'i S-AFC II will work

Yeah, everyone would benefit from this. I mean, nothing better than a nice ass fuel controller for 315 bucks. I mean listenb to this s***, the new SAFC-II can control fuel in 1% increments, instead of 5% like the old one. For turbo cars it has preventive function for engine stall due to blow-back during throttle return. You know what that means right? You can now run an atmospheric BOV without the threat of anything stalling. I mean, it usually only stalls under severe conditions, but this would end the threat of engine stall.

I've got my BOV vented to the atmosphere and its stock...besides one little thing I added on...a check valve.

news flash!!! It ignores all the fuel sensors exept the ones needed for cumbustion. The MAF isnt one of the most important ones anyway. Remember some of the sensors we have arent needed for the engine to work but just for enviormental puposes.

That is the most ignorant comment I've heard in a while. MAF is THE MOST IMPORTANT sensor next to the RPM sensor(CAS, or however Mazda did it on this car). TPS is basically useless in open loop.

There are 2 basic ways of finding how much air is going into the engine- Mass air flow(measuring the amount of air) and MAP(calculating the amount of air). Our cars measure how much air is coming in, as opposed to calculating the amount of air based of vacuum or boost. It is VERY easy to tell which type of system we have based on the fact that the sensor is right there in the intake, and our sensors max out causing a "fuel cut" situation.

I'm not posting this to insult you in any way, but please find out FACTS before posting...I hate the "parrot syndrome" on this forum SO much.

(flame2) The flame wars have begun! (flame2)

Oh well. I won't be able to compare because we have Fords ECU anyway. bad.

well ghost says it wont work....but i would try it if i had the money right now because if it doesnt work my friend that just boosted his civic will buy it off me

I'm still very skeptical about this. It will work on the J-spec ECU's as Apexi said, but they are not the same ECU's that we have. Also there is a difference between you being able to plug it in and watching the screen move as opposed to it actually increasing performance. Is $300+ worth 5 extra hp...I mean how much are we really talking here?

i would spend 300 for 5hp, christ i spent 246 on my intake and almost 400 on my exhaust

hehe, :D I don't think you were supposed to say that....;) But, hell I would too.

it's not really the hp gains that you'll get just from tuning the fuel map that we're after. but being able to control the fuel gives you a lot more options when it comes to fine tuning your car. and that is definitely worth $300

you mind telling us more about this check valve? is it supposed to help prevent stalling? i'm curious to know what it's for.

Okay, heres the low down. The older SAFC would wor for monitoring, you just couldnt hook it up to the MAF without the car stalling. I was looking at the application chart for the first SAFC and there is no mention of an FS series engine on there. Well now with the SAFC II we get a mention for the FS engine. I'll be 100 dollars it'll ******* work. Okay, I'm broke and don't have a hundred dollars. If I did I'd get the SAFC-II. SOmeone buy one!!
