Newness...

Ok. So...

I Just bought a 2006 grand Touring MSP6 with ALL the options (2 tone leather, nav, sunroof), with only 8800 miles on it...(3rd owner, go figure(scratch)) photos to come...

I'm VERY new to mazda/the mazda community and have several questions about this new vehicle in my garage that I'd like to bring up after reading the forums thoroughly for any/all answers...

Its been a long journey finding the "right" car for my needs...its a long story that I'd like to share sometime, but perhaps that is for another post...?...

Long story short...I needed to get out of my 07 2 door Jeep, and INTO a 4 door awd CAR.

On a side note: The day after I bought it for such a good deal (private party out of state...), I took it to my nearest mazda dealer. The service rep asked me what brought me in today ect...I just got an oil change and 40 point inspection...within 5 minutes, there were numerous sales and service managers and reps huddled around my new car arms folded, talking in hushed voices to one another. You woulda thought it was a friggen ferrari!

^^^does this happen to anyone?^^^

This is my first car thats worth modding and I'm considering modding with discretion. (I'm considering extending the warranty as opposed to modding when the warranty is up)...

Sorry for the lengthiness...

make sure you take it to an authorized mazdaspeed dealer, that may be why you had that issue. the mazdaspeed dealers have been specially trained to work on the mazdaspeed vehicles.

congrats on the new car :)

caprisun, welcome! You've chosen a fine car. I'm in a similar situation to you, first "good" car, looking to gently mod (at first anyway), and I'm still very excited about it. I still get a big smile on my face whenever it's time to drive anywhere, and I've had mine for about 2 months now.

I did have an incident like that at the dealer as well, I brought it in to order a cargo net, and 2 of the sales guys came out to gawk and to talk to me about it. Granted, this one is in a very rare colour for around here, but still, it was kinda nice to have them get so excited to see it.

Get used to it. 20 minute oil change places take over an hour now. I called the dealership a few weeks ago about something, the parts guy I talked to said I might as well trade my car in since he was wanting it before I bought it. (hand)

Still, make sure you always turn around and look before changing lanes. There's almost always someone trailing in your blind spot checking out the car. I nearly ran over a Dodge 1500 Hemi the other night cuz he was trailing me like that. You'd think that was the first time he lost a stop light race.

Thanks everyone for the welcome!

I do believe it was a mazdaspeed dealer, at least thats what the mazda website confirmed...anyways...

Yea, when i was looking at cars for the past 6 months or so I weighed in cars like the A4, WRX, Legacy GT, AWD 3 series/ X3...and among all those cars, the MS6 was "lower key" then the rest, and definitely not as flashy, but without sacrificing performance or style. A REAL SLEEPER! But I guess the limited production numbers counter that, and to those who "know" about the MS6 get real excited to see one...day-to-day tho, most people see it as a regular 6, and more recently when people ask me what car I got I just say I got a mazda 6...=D...makes me want to keep it stock for a while...

Weren't there a more limited number of black/white interiors as well? Maybe that's what all the fuss was about. Anyway, congrats! You'll love your MS6!
