Newbie to MSP and to Turbo lifestyle..

Whats up, I recently got rid of my car and purchased my buddies 2003 MSP. He has an Injen CAI, and a Greddy Turbo Timer... That's about it. So it's pretty much stock for the most part. I'm not trying to get too crazy, but it has this wicked "Turkey Call", and I've been told to just purchase an aftermarket BOV. Does anyone recommend a specific aftermarket BOV? Do I or better yet.. Should I get any other "mild" mods when upgrading to a aftermarket BOV? Hardpipes, bypas valve? Sorry if these questions are stupid, I just honestly don't know that much about the additional parts that come with a Turbo'd car, as I had a base model Lancer. Don't worry I'll start my reading up, except lots of free time is hard to come by for me these days. I don't mind spending a little cash if it will help in the long run.
Yes I know I should probably search for these questions and I did, and got no where. So don't get all sour on me for asking this, I know my Lancer forum members were pretty harsh at times to some newb's. Appreciate any help, PM me if necessary.
The BOV that was recommended to me was the: Forge Motorsport Blow-Off Valve Kit. Any good? I'm lookin to get rid of the Turkey sound and get a more traditional/stero-typical BOV noise. Thanks.

To get rid of the turkey most people run a dual set up of a bpv and bov or they relocate the MAF so they can run the bov open vent.

As for as mods i suggest a FMIC kit and a turbo back exhaust

There's many ways to eliminate it...some work better for some people and some don't. I had the turkey for the first year i had the car. I recently installed the Synapse Engineering Synchronic BOV and have totally eliminated all turkey! I have hardpipes and a front mount intercooler. And i have the BOV installed a a foot and a half from the throttle body. Just my .02

Thanks for the tip man. I noticed you replied to someone elses BOV question recently and recommended the same BOV. I'm simply looking for a good wooosh sound. The protegegarage.com did not have the Synapse BOV, they had a couple HKS, a Greddy and a couple Forged Motorsports BOVs. If the Synapse is as good as you say it is, I'll search for another website to purchase it from.
The only mod's my buddy did to the car is a Injen CAI, and Greddy turbo timer & boost controller. Although I had the boost controller plugged because it was giving me "boost creep".
If you have another website you recommend purchasing from, let me know otherwise I'll search for the best price and fastest shipping.

Synapse Engineering Synchronic BOV, will I also need... or should I also get a BPV? Is it necessary to get the combination of the BOV and BPV?

I was also looking to do some other minor upgrades for now, like some hardpipes? Any recommendations? I saw the following options:

While I have someone's attention. I need to change out the rotors soon, should I just replace them with the standard OE rotors, or should I go with slotted. I was looking at the Centric brand rotors at protegegarage.com.

Appreciate any help and/or advice in regards to my questions above from ANYONE.

FMIC Kit, comes with a BOV,and get the intake while your at it if you don't already have it. You will love your car after you do the fmic.

If you don't wanna spend alot on the exhaust just get a downpipe and lose the 2nd cat and resonater.

Like I said, I'm trying to do a few MINOR upgrades for now.. I'm not looking to drop mad $$$ just quiet yet on a whole new FMIC kit. I'm pretty happy with the car, but just want to do the few small performance upgrades. Appreciate your response tho, I do understand it might better just to buy the whole package, i'm just not down to do that yet. I don't feel the need.

In regards to the Hardpipes... I've heard and read people having some issue's with their Weapon R Hardpipe kit. And I've came across a couple threads where some folks have recommended buying the Aluminum Hardpipe kit from Turbohoses, if you have the money to spend. So I guess I'll be going with the Aluminum kit from Turbohoses, as after research it does seem to be the "right" way to go. I want to do the upgrade right the first time. So spending a little extra really won't bother me.

As for brakes.. Thanks for telling me not to waste my time with buying other brake kits or different style rotors. I'll probably just go ahead and purchase the OEM rotors.... If you recommend a website let me know, otherwise I'll probably go to protegegarage.com.

not because i am selling the bov but the new hks ssqv v2 IS NOT ADJUSTABLE as was the hks ssqv v1. this means that you cannot adjust the bov to fix any stalling or from boosting too early. the hks ssqv v1 had a set screw on the back and you could tighten or loosen as needed to make the spring stiffer or looser. i know where you can get the hks ssqv v1 but it costs $449.00 and this is the only place i have ever seen it. The forge is not perfect either but it does come with different springs to increase or decrease the tension. another good site is horsepowerfreaks.com for msp parts. they have great customer service.

I heard pretty good things about the HKS SSQ v2, I really hope it doesn't bite me in the rear later. Hopefully it'll perfom well. Supposedly the HKS BOV "utilizes a dual valve system to ensure quick response and complete closure during idle". The folks who wrote reviews on protegegarage.com seemed pretty satisfied. My pops bought it for me for my b-day, so I almost had no choice or time to think twice. I'll take it to my mechanic and see what he says about it.
I noticed that protegegarage.com also sells a HKS 1.25 Inch Recirculation Fitting... You think I might need one of these as well? It says "Allows for proper blow off valve recirculation to the intake for smoother operation and correct air/fuel ratios and MAF operation". Is this something I should get as well? I'm also ordering the turbohoses hardpipe kit right meow.

that fitting is relatively new so i am not sure about the way it performs. hope the hks ssq v2 works for you

make sure you have them weld your flange on for you so everything gets ceramic coated at the same time.

Sorry... I'm a little lost with the Flange talk... Is this a piece they have that they can put on.. or is this a piece that comes with the BOV that needs to get welded on? Sorry to sound so dumb. Sucha newb...lol

sometimes it comes with the bov but it attaches to the intercooler pipe so the bov has a secure and sturdy mounting location. not sure if the ssqv comes with it or not. pretty sure if it does you can send it to them to put it on for you. i would suggest calling after placing your order and finding out how this is done

So I placed my order with Turbohoses.com, and they gave me call to see where I'd like put the BOV before they start fabricating the kit...they wanted a location...? He said since this would be considered custom, there would be no returns... so I'm about to take a look and maybe drive down to my mechanic because I have NOO IDEA!! The guy from Turbohoses said he'd love to help further but they haven't had an MSP on the lot for years...
