oh god soo expensive! they're about 250 USD in canada...

You reckon 500 is expensive...it would set me back close to NZ$1000 (US$700) and that is if I could get one over here!!!

Sweet ride. I'd say that your next purchase should be a short shifter. Man, I forgot how huge the stock one was.

Funny you say that as that is something I have been seriously looking at. The thing is the more I investigate it the more concerns I have. I have been told by TWM that there shifter kit "should" fit my car (being it is AWD) but I have not had a 100% answer as yet. The other thing is that a lot of people have told me that they get a very notchy stiff feel which also concerns me. Do you have a shortshifter? What brand and do you like it?

Hi all this is my 2000 Famila Sport20, I am new to the forum today and thought i would post some pics to get some feedback about what you all think of my ride. Dont hold back now.....
Ummmm... I think you posted your interior pic backwards. :p Just kidding! Nice ride you've got there. I like your interior BTW, the seats look especially nice. Man, it'd be tough for me to learn to shift w/my left if I ever had to. :D Nice rims as well, welcome to the board! :D

Awesome! The AWD feature is just plain cool, too. =)

As far as short shifters, I use a Kartboy short shifter with a Kartboy stabilizer bushing... The bushing I can suggest you get rather highly, as it made a huge difference. It was notchy, originally, though, due to it's shorter throw, so I put on a GReddy counterweight shift knob, and it shifts smoother than stock, now. =)

my god thats some s*** s*** i hate you but yet i love you.

PART THE CAR OUT!!!!!!!!

and yea thats the stock seats

I have the Kartboy shifter (www.kartboy.com) with their shifter linkage bushings. The bushings just limit the play of the shifter housing as a whole and is what makes it "notchier". I'm actually not sure if that would work for you since our linkage attaches right to the side of the tranny. If you want to compare yours to what we have, here are the directions for installing just the linkage bushings:
http://www.kartboy.com/mazdabushinginstall.html

Having the short shifter will take a little more effort, especially going to 1st and into 2nd, but that's just expected from a shorter throw. Equally, if you put a 50cm stick on your car you'd eliminate all effort necessary to shift but would be swinging your arm like crazy. It's really not that bad, just try to find some pics of what we have or take a look at yours and take some pics for us of that area and we should be able to figure out if you could use the twm, b&m, or kartboy shifter.

Thanks all for the info. So what you guys are getting at is that it is definitely worth getting a shifter. Thanks for posting the TWM pics though I have looked at these and have not really been able to compare to the underside of my car as yet. Cheers.
