I bought my car used 8 months ago with 11,000 miles. I drive 100 miles every day to work so I put on a lot of miles. Just passed the 30,000 mark.

I took it to the dealer for 30.000 maintenance and they did more than what the manual says. They replaced the transmission fluid with a synthetic. I read later that the original fluid was supposed to last over 100,000 miles and maybe the synthetic is not as good. Does this mean once I started I'll have to replace every 30,000 miles? Did the dealer do me wrong?

Also, I replaced the original Bridgestone tires (which wore very poor) with Pirelli PZone. Anyone know if the Pirelli's are better tires. From the naked eye they look about the same.

By far this is the best car I've ever owned...just gotta watch the speed. If I don't pay attention to the speedometer the next thing I know I'm doing 90 or 100 MPH and it feels like 60.

I got busted in NYS doing 82 and since then I learned to use cruise control and went out and bought a Passport radar dector. If you own this car you most definately want to invest in a good radar detector.

I look forward to meeting any other Speed 6 owners in my area. So far I've seen 3 on the road.

Yes, the dealer screwed you over (as most will). Your maintenance manual is your bible for the car. Dealer's are out to make money by intimidation tactics.

Can't find any information on "PZone"s, but the PZero is a good tire. If you check TireRack you'll see they have the same ratings as the OEM tires.

Maybe not intentionally messing you over. I personally would never go 100,000 miles on transmission fluid. Heat is a real killer, though you may not have as many problems as some if you are generally driving at a good clip. Heat effects on fluid are at a geometric progression, as opposed to simple arithmetic, ie: for slight increases in temp. the effects/degradation of the fluid become more and more severe. Worse if you do a lot of idling, traffic driving , etc due to lack of cooling air flow. Synthetics more stable, heat resistant, etc. I wouldn't even consider going 100,000 miles; 30,000 sounds reasonable, 50,000 for sure I would change. Biggest cause of failure is cooked flluid. Not a bad idea to ensure all fluid drained/exchanged via machines to do that, not just drop of pan and add new to old still in there.

Duhhhh.....Excuse prior posting..you obviously have manual transmission. Showing my age...although I only drive manual transmissions in my personal cars...wife has autos and at work (police veh's ) only drive autos. 100,000 probably OK, but personal preference for me is 50,000 to 75,000 on my manual transmissions and 3rd members. I only use synthetics in my vehicles due to heat, etc. Some manuals don't like synthetics. Red Line makes some good ones to meet just about any need, though.
