New/used Msp

That looks to be a Perrin FMIC from the pipes and the AC relocation.
I'd know those pipes anywhere :D
It was IIRC the largest intercooler available for our car.

It's either the Perrin FMIC or the Turbl Life FMIC not sure but they look almost identical!

You should check it. Should be at the VERY least 16 at idle, and that's if your gauge reads a awkwardly, like mine does. 95% of MSP owners read 20vac!

If your vac reading is low that means you have a leak. Get it fixed NOW!

Thanks for the heads up! I know my gauge reads and hold like 5 or 6lbs of boost. Are their "normal" vaccum leak areas that I should check first?

Turbo lifes FMIC has black piping and no one has recieved one yet. Its definitely a perrin fmic, and injen cai.

Check out your springs you look like you have been lowered already. Are they red?

You have an after market muffler on there too.

green so i believe they are tiens sitting on teckio blue struts.

Edit: Its a greddy cat back. I think is the Greddy SP2. I love the sound of it.

Can you provide pics of your engine bay? I'm trying to figure out how I need to secure my over flow jug.

bump for this info: some help here? I don't have the answer.

Thanks for the bump becuase I know every car has its normal quirks.(friday) So far i'm loving the MSP I just realy hope the noise that it makes cold that it recent developed is a exhuast leak. Then I can order a new mani and (headbang)

All of your clamped connections at the turbo, intercooler, cai/sri/airbox, and throttle body. Check all of your vacuum lines/ports for disconnections or tears. There's a diagram on the underside of the hood for reference.

But as long as your car is running smooth and the vacuum at idle with a/c on is 18 or higher and with it off its 20-22 then your fine. Unless you have either a SW or bad gauge and then those numbers will be lower and/or you have a leak.

You should probably order a new mani anyway or get yours coated before it cracks. I got the steedspeed mani and its a beautiful piece.

What is a SW? The car runs smooth and idles soomth. Well the EGR will need cleaning ASAP. it also stalls when i take it out of take to come to a stop.

oh i wouldnt mind that but that one is a little out of my price range.

Stewart Warner. Pull back the heatshield and make sure the exhaust manifold is on tight. Throw in a fresh set of plugs and a new pcv for that stalling issue. Get some seafoam and run that through the vacuum system and put the rest in your tank. Fwiw, I never cleaned my egr nor do I plan to and I don't have stalling issues.

I have a question and not to thread jack but i was looking at your pix and noticed your gauges have the silver needle stands . Is that normal for a msp ? I have a msp cluster but mine are black ....

ok will do. I will removed the heatshield and check to see if the manifold is tight. The car doesnt stall completely just acts like it. I will seafoam it later on after i do the valve cover gasket.

So far my list of things to do goes

oil change
trans fluid change
check suspension bushing (rattles on bumps on the road)
check for exhuast leak (could this cause a low vac?)
valve cover gasket
new PVC valve
seafoam
tune up.
convert the CAI to SRI
new motor mounts.
install catless midpipe that just came in.
check for vac leaks

how much did you get that for? do a compression test. i can see evidence of a boost controller previously installed. you also have the wrong radiator hose for a regular protege. the msp has a black silicone one. it also most likely had front end damage because your headlights are chrome housings vs the gray/black trim housings that are stock and the lower grille cover in the front lip is missing. also it has a p5 radiator. that car needs a bit of work from what i can see in the pics.

Thanks for the heads up JDM Sam. The carfax report shows no wrecks, floods, ect ect. The rad is a p5 rad from the looks of it, from what i understand some people like to upgrade to the p5 rad after getting a FMIC setup. Now as far as the headlightsgo I have no idea. Maybe they got broke some how....

DO they have that annoying little metal clip that the p5 has for the bulbs? I haven't checked the headlights for that. If so then he/she replaced them as a set... no clue really.

Thanks for the heads up on the vac leak! I found out that the previous owner T'd off a vac line around the fuel rail which was left wide open under the dash.

I hate to thread Jack also, but i think i have a leak in my vac line and i cant find it.

Im idle ing around 10 and can not (for the life of me) find the leak.

I recently installed an AEM CAI and noticed that my vac went down. Ive checked all the vacuum lines and even check the connections at the bpv and nothing is cracked or leaking.

Is there someone i can take it to (besides the dealer) to have this examined?
