Anything over 6000k requires coated (painted) bulbs to achieve that color. 4100-4500k will give you the best visibility because a) the bulbs are not coated and b) it's closest to the color of sunlight, which the human eye has adapted to over many millions of years. 6000k is something like 30% less effective brightness vs 4100-4500k. Anything coated is drastically less output, often less than stock halogen when the color goes up past 10k. It may "look" brighter when you stare at the light, but with regards to what it actually lights up on the road it will be less effective.

I'm not trying to come off as a jackass or anything so please don't take this the wrong way but how many times do I have to say that I AGREE that 12000k has less usuable light? The articles i've read showed actual picture comparisons between the different size kits and yes 12000k was/is less efficient but the difference between 4500k and 12000k is very noticable but at that same time not 'drastic' as most think. The weather conditions out here in So Cal don't get to bad so more than likely, i'll be fine.

Once again, I got 12000k for PURE looks. I don't think it's gonna bother my night vision too much but if it does, i'll gladly switch over to a 4500k-6000k bulb.

I'll start another thread with some pics for you guys as soon as i get the kit installed :D

I appreciate everyone's help (rockon)

Yeah I have no clue why it came out that big lol.

I love the Navi. Easy to use and VERY accurate. It has never gotten me lost :D

The thing hanging on my rear view mirror is called a Kapu Head (if I remember correctly) It's from Hawaii. It's supposed to keep evil spirits away. I also have a few hanging around my house. They come in a wide variety of colors. Any color combo you can think of, you can get it in :)

I understand, just kinda threw me off when you quoted me so it kinda seemed like you were talking directly towards me. That's why I said I didn't wanna sound like a jackass because I know you were only helping :)

UPDATE ON THE 12000K HID Kit:

Well it arrived today. I was excited. Too bad it arrived with a bad ballast :( :(
Looks like I gotta wait for a new ballast before I can give you guys some feedback on the 12000k Kit :(

There are a lot of crappy HID kits out there. I won't buy HIDs from places that aren't praised by many, many people.

It was a gift from a friend. So I can't complain...

He bought the same kit for his Charger... Looks pretty nice...

by the look of the pic.. it is "pull me over blue"..(lol)

however, it may look much better in Mazda5's projector headlight with focused beam pattern..

looking forward to see in action in M5:D

wow yeah that's a bit too ricer blue. If I were you, I'd scrape all the painted coating off the bulb. They'll probably be 6000k after that...also they'll be brighter.

they use "paint" for HID bulbs?
