New to Mazda - VERY happy with my 08.5 Black Mica MZ3 (I do read the forum) hatch. Looking forward to a few conservative but effective modification like a lowered suspension and maybe a mellow exhaust. 4500 miles now, mileage in the high 20's to low 30's, it didn't cost much, I don't see myself every 10 minuteson the road like in my old BMW and NO problems. But, the tires are terrible on wet roads - may not wait to wear them out.

What is all the fuss about aftermarket motor mounts? How are they better?

the after market lower mount really increases shift feel and lowers engine movement especially wheel hop. it was one of the first mods i did and i love it couldn't even tell you what it would feel like with it not in there. there are a lot more choices now then when i got mine (there was only 1 and i got it on the first gb lol) so do some research and ask some questions to figure out which one is right for your driving style.

i would recomend the eibach pro kit and a short throw shifter both dramaticly increase the smiles per mile. on a car like this an intake and exhaust are nice but the small increase in power is well small... lol i have both and i do like them but as far as what gave me the best feel and most smiles i would say lowering springs, sts, rear sway and motor mount and probably in that order.

Thanks, Tsunami. Now, all I have to do is find the time to make the mods AND get over doing anything at all to this pristine little hatch.
