What's the best set of 215/40/17's that I can get for around $100 each?

They are good tire's for the price, but I bet they're pretty noisy. I'd say go for it and the tread wear is pretty friendly too. If you decide to get them, let us know how they are. I'm sure plenty of other members on here would like to know.

What's the tread wear on our stockers, 220?

Tread wear rating are misleading. No matter what the number you cam only compare them within a single manufacturers tires. A 220 in a Dunlop cannot be compared to a 220 in a Yok.

Check out the Kuhmo 712s. Not sure if they have a 215, but they are really good tires. At ~$90 each or less they are very hard to beat.

me personally i went wit the YOKO' PARADA spec 2.....and i am anticipatin the arrival...just bought today...but a couple people i know say it is most definatly the best tire

The yokos are good but $$$$$! I'm with KD on the cash saving spree. Just bought race tires and an engagement ring here. A little poor right now.

I was originally looking at them, but a friend said he had them before and wouldn't buy them again.

The Falken Azenis only come in a 225. Can't get the 205 or 215 in a 17".
As for the Kuhmos, half the people I race with and against run them and love them. They have great grip and excellent traction, especially for the price. Check out the reviews on tirerack.com. Lots of miles logged on them.
Also, ask cjfbr. He runs the 712s. On his second set. (check his sig) Can't be that bad if you buy them more than once!

personally if i was youj I would fork out a few more bucks and get the toyo proxes fz4. they grab the road so much better then the dunlops and with them being a little less hard and more spongy then the dunlops they seem to be better on the transmission. Lets just say with the tires alone I ran 16.2 stock....which is pretty damn good

Our Dunlops on the MP3's are 280 A A. As for a 280 Yokohama being compared to a 280 Dunlop, they should wear differently. It is my understanding that the ratings are unique to each tire and just because 2 different tires share the same rating, it doesn't mean that they will wear at the same rate. My Kuhmo 712 on my Civic were also 280, but those seemed no to really wear at all compared to these Dunlops which are also 280. The Yokohama A520 and Parada wore really fast on a few of my friends cars. We all shared the same kind of driving habits, but it still isn't a fair way to compare them all.

Good info, thnx.

I have the kuhmos on my car.I had to get 2 new ones because I had a sidewall blowout on 1 dunlop and couldnt find a replacement of the same tire(a tire shop in jersey wanted 250+ for 1 dunlop, jus like the ones on our cars)I said he was outta his mind with a price like that.So I have the kuhmos in the stock size. I think that they handle very well, especially in the rain. I do also like the dunlops, but for the money $87 a tire you cant go wrong. Plus i heard nothing but good things from other import guys and the muscle car guys in my area. I ordered mine from tirerack and got the in 2days.:D Just what I think about them,

Actually I meant to say Toyo not parada. Guess when it's 2am I start getting tired. But, I'd be scared to spend that kind of money on a set of proxies and have them wear faster than the dunlops. Anyone got any experience with the Proxies?

As for Kumho, they are a pretty good deal. But, are they loud? I tend to be somewhat anti-kumho as I had a set years ago on a prelude, and they were the worse tire I've ever had for tire wear. But this was a long time ago, I guess their getting better.

I've also gone through my fair share of Bridgestones. Crap! Sure they stick good, but expect to replace them every year. Too expensive for something that wears that fast. I'm actually impressed with the Dunlops so far, mine seem to be wearing quite well. Loud is my only complaint about the dunlops.

The way I figure, my tires are getting replaced next spring. I'll want a tire that will last all next year, and maybe a bit of the year after as I don't want to put another set of tires on her before I trade it that year.
