New rims and tires

I just replace my OEM wheels and tires with 48K miles of wear with a set of BF G-Force TA KDW2 mounted on 16X7 Kazera KZ-V. I stayed with 16s for the ride and bad pot holes. I chose the Kazera KZ-Vs because they have a +50 offset and only weights 16lbs. I also chose the BF KDW2 because I'm running the same tires on my turbo Spyder. The weight of each set of the new wheels and tires is almost identical to the OEMs with only 10% of tread left.

I took a 20 mile test ride and immediately felt the difference in the ride. The BFs have a little softer ride but yet I felt every pebble on the road. They did not follow the grooves in the road even with the aggressive tread pattern. The noise level, however, is about 15db greater than the OEMs. These tires are not that loud on my Spyder.

What's really interesting is that my Spyder's suspension is more than three times stiffer than my P5's but yet it rides smoother than my P5 except on large bumps. I'll have to see what the ride is like after the tires are broken in.

I drive 80% freeway and most of the time I have over 200lbs of work material in the back seat and cargo area. I'm a corner freak but I also rotate my tires every 5K to 7K miles.

For my money the KDW2 has the best looking tread pattern. Unfortunatly, my money won't put up with the noise and poor cold weather performance.

Have fun in balmy San Diego. BTW, do you know San Diego is German for "whale's vagina"...of course you do, you live there. Good luck.

Those look great! What is your feeling on the tires now? I'll be in the market next summer :D
