Craig,
Damn man. As many posts as you have you missed this?![]()
kwiktsi said:Hey- what do you guys think- "MAF Enhancer" or "FCD-Plus"? I am trying to think of a product name and I am startign to lean towards like FCD-Plus since it was first and foremost an FCD, then I got creative and added to it a bit.. Just FYI- this unit is not going to do the same thing as an AFC or piggyback by any means. It, like my FPR kit, will just help take the edge off and will also eliminate fuel cut as mentioned for those who want to increase boost and are running into fuel cut.
If anyone is in the Albany or even Middletown, NY area- you are welcome to drive my car to get a comparison of how it runs with the FPR kit, boost and the MAF Enhancer (FCD-Plus, whatever).. I will be in Middletown from Thursday until Saturday if any Northern Jersey guys want to meet up or anything.

kwiktsi said:Hey guys, I just wanted to let you know that witihin the next week or so, I will be releasing a new product for the MSP!! It is more than likely going to be called a "MAF Enhancer". Basically, it will alter the MAF signal below the 4500 open loop switchover to help lean out closed loop operation a bit and hopefully help with the closed loop stumbles the car has. It will also have a built in FCD (fuel-cut defenser) which will be welcomed with open arms by the ones trying to increase their boost that keep encountering fuel cut!!! This will allow any boost levels without hitting fuel cut- HOWEVER, this does not mean that any level is considered safe.. It is just to opens the door for those who are trying to increase their boost.
Summary- *slightly* improved gas mileage, better cruising and no boost related fuel cut..
The unit will be a simple TWO WIRE hookup- one to ground and one taps in to the MAF wire at the ECU (pin 88)- no cutting factory wires necessary. It will also be able to be adjusted to further richen or lean the car past it's preset point for those who want to further fine tune the car!!!
Estimated price will be in the $50-$60 range. A hell of a deal since the HKS FCD just limits fuel cut and is $185..
Let me know if you guys are interested, I will not follow through the rest of the way with no interest..
Feel free to respond, PM or email (kwiktsi@nycap.rr.com) me if you have any questions.

Yeah, you are a bit behindlol .. The link to my site is www.joepmbc.com .. I have been building DSM's for about 7 years and the MBC's have been going pretty strong for about 4 or so. I have a very good reputation with the DSM and WRX guys for "knowing my s***"
and am now applying my experience to the MSP's. That is why I kind of get touchy about people saying "it doesn't work because so and so says so" as opposed to "been there, done that"- as you can tell by my replies in the 77 whp thread
. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to answer them. Later.

Both of these kits are designed to be safe for all MSP's. There is no need for an AF gauge with these items. All you have to do is install them- the tuning has been done for you..
Joe
PS- If you plan on buying the package, I will take a couple $$$ off the pair. I have to work out pricing still so I will post the info when I have it. Those of you who have already bought the FPR kit will also get a discount to match the package price..

Joe I think "FCD+" sounds good. You will definatly have a buyer as soon as I get the car.
I have asked this before but got no answer, was there any improvements in the 2003.5 MSP over the current?
I know about the cosmetic stuff but I need to know if Mazda fixed any thing on the sly like Nissan did with the 03 Spec v.
Thanx,
Garth
MS MSP said:Hey Joe,
I would be interested in a package deal for your 3 products, the Boost controller, the FPR and The MAF enhancer. Please let me know the package cost once you have it worked out.
Thanks for all the hard work !

p.s. If i brought this to a Speed shop, would they be able to do this easily for me?

Just so you know aas each of our post are somewhat vague to this extend. i am not calling your product into question or your abilities. I am simply looking into buy an MBC and wanted to consider yours aswell.
Thanks for the link.
If this was back around march then I was avioding the MSP sections from the SRT/4 idocies going on so I wouldn't have bothered looking into that section.
