Let me first say, I'm not going to be combative... in fact, I will probably make this post and never reply again...

The pictures do not tell enough of the story. I would LOVE to see the connecting rod. Did they find the clip? If your pin had actually fallen out, it would be severely damaged. The most damaged part of your pin looks to be right where the connecting rod sits. If I had to guess... I'd say the connecting rod came apart... but I don't know. I am legitimately curious to see more.

Secondly, I work in the automotive service industry. I buy about 40 new vehicles per year. When an engine blows, it's not the dealer's choice about who gets covered under warranty. The engine is pulled and analyzed by corporate representatives. They will make a clone copy of your ECM and send that out to Mazda. They will also send accompanying pictures. If you truly believe that your car with a big turbo and chopped up ECU harness isn't going to be picked up on by people who's job it is TO find stuff like that.. you're being very foolish.

I don't doubt that they'll go ahead and do the work- I'd just get everything in order because you're going to get stuck with a bill at the end of it.

I wish you luck, but I don't think you stand a chance- regardless of how good you are in with your dealer.

^ouch.

License plate and VIN pls or I call bs. j/k.

Good luck with everything. They may have done the tear down without any notice of bill but if they do find out that your warranty doesn't hold, they may stick you with the bill for tear down and then ask if you want to pay additional for a new engine+labour.

Trust me, I don't want to see you pay- I'm just speaking from experience, and that's not how this game works. I sincerely wish you luck.

really im not i decided already i was going to keep the car and be more carefull next time, but man what else can i say, i have nothing else to say or prove, my point is those engine you saw on the pic were engines that blew as well as mine and mazda never asked for them to be send back to inspect anything, i was talking to my tech and he said that probably he is going to be the one tearing that block open to check what went wrong and that techline never requested that engine, is that too hard to accept or some of you really want for me to get screw, really i dont know men. you tell me.

oh i wasnt talking about the warranty stuff, that is your problem. i was talking about the actual engine failure. Like did the tech have a little better idea on what the weak point was during the tear down? My engine knowledge isnt extensive but i'm definitely curious for more details besides, "the pin fell out"

he hasnt taken the engine off the car yet, he also wants to know what went wrong so as soon as the new engine arrive hopefully tomorrow and he put the new one in he will open it and see what did what, i will post pictures of the blown engine when he opens it. im not looking for symphaty here and i know i went off by blaming the car for what happened and calling it a pos but in reality i love the speed3, i posted what happened just to let the members here know. i really aprreciated all of you for taking interest and read the post, hopefully it has a happy end.

Wonder if the two blown engines are for sale...

lol, what the dealer is telling you is funny....because i know people that work for mazda. The techs at the dealer don't take the engines apart, and all engines are sent back to mazda if its under warranty. They may not be asking for it now, but eventually they will want it. Trust me on that.

If the dealer tech tears down the engine, and mazda asks for it back and they get it back all ****** up, the dealer will get charged back, and probably then send you a bill.

Warranty parts are kept at the dealer until the claim goes through to mazda which can take a few weeks. They review every claim and then decide what they want back, I'm SURE an engine will be called back, especially on a MS3.

Trust me on this...you may be all happy now, but it may turn out bad for both you and your dealer later on.

damn the small print...

Note: Camshafts listed are not compatible with Mazda variable cam timing feature. Application power levels listed show the potential of the camshaft with suitable performance engine modifications.
