Panther Plus Pads & AWR Mount Installed

In preparation for my next track event this weekend, I changed my factory pads with a set of Carbotech Panther Plus pads in the front. I flushed the system with Valvoline Synpower earlier this year when I installed SS brake lines.

After the 45 minute job, including a tire rotation, I 'bed' the pads following the instructions included - slowing 3-4 times from 40-60 mph to 20mph and 3-4 stops from the same speed.

First thoughts? These pads are very impressive. The track event this weekend will be the real test, but stopping on the street has improved significantly. Only a slight squeal on the street after a few hard stops. This is the first time I used Carbotech pads on any vehicle. I typically use Hawk or Porterfield on my other cars.

I also installed the front AWR mount, but didn't have enough time to do the rear. I used the auto bushings and only notice a slight vibration at idle. The big improvement is no more shifter moving under acceleration or shifting from a high RPM.

Very nice products with good results. (2thumbs)

Is there any brake dust?
Plenty. After three days of normal street driving, there is a noticeable coating on my bronze wheels. I am planning to use these only for track events.

BTW even on cool mornings (70 deg.), the pads work really well. I don't know how they would do on a 20 deg. morning.

I decided to order some ATE Super Blue and change out the Valvonine fluid for piece of mind. Speedbleeders are on the way as well.

is there any brake pads that provide awesome braking distance and yet at the same time dont give off much brake dust?

no

I want to know how these work. I was going to get some before my last track day, but then was on the fence about getting rid of the car.

My stock brakes make this scraping sound, which my dad says is probably because I've cooked them a couple of times already. Track only pads seem to be a great idea.

I tried the Carbotech XP9 race pads for a track day with Kuhmo r-compound tires and they were great on track and even to/from the track. In fact, as a test (or really cause I'm lazy), I have been using them on the street ever since and the performance is great. Dust is much worse than stock, but about the same as Hawk HP+. Cold braking has been fine, even at like 30 degrees, but I think the modulation is better at higher temps. I hope to get around to changing them out and saving them for track days next summer but it's nice to know they work this well on the track AND on the street. Too bad the price isn't a bit lower!
