Not thrilled with the TomTom so far, but this was expected. This may have been discussed previously, but I can't seem to find it:

is there a way to get directions to a specific store or business? For instance, if we want to go to Target and we don't know the street address?

Stores, airports, restaurants, etc. are found under POI (points of interest); you will have much more functionality searching while the vehicle is stopped (some functions are blocked when moving).
