Hey folks, proud new owner of a 2006 MS6 with only 20k miles. I have really gotten on it only a few times and noticed under full throttle when shifting from 1st to 2nd the whole car shakes or thumps really hard. Is that normal cause of the power of this car?

Yeah this car shifts pretty rough going from 1st to 2nd gear. There are a few things you can do to help out. First is getting a rear engine mount. I have the CPE one and it really improves the shifting. Also to have a smoother shift you can replace the transmission fluid with synthetic fluid such as redline MT-90. They also have the shifter bushings which improve the shift feel.

As always, I will say you need to find out if your 06 is in need of the clutch TSB (the information is available in this section) and have the dealer take care of it for you. It's covered under warranty and coupled with a new rear mm and synthetic fluid you won't believe how well this car can shift. Enjoy.

i would get an upgraded rear engine mount as this will make all the difference in the world.

Well I just got back from the Mazda dealership and they are ordering all 3 new motor mounts. They told me they are redesigned and there is a TSB for the mounts as well. I will keep you all updated once they are installed, a free fix would be great!

Actually, the rear motor mount we were referring to was one of the aftermarket choices. The stock ones have a soft rubber bushing (including the redesigned ones) to almost eliminate any vibration that may creep into the cabin. Unfortunately, the rubber in the mounts is what allows the motor to roll around a bit and give that clunky shift feel. Most people that have put in an aftermarket mm don't notice much, if any, increase in vibration. Everyone has their own preference as to which company makes the best mounts so the best place to start is checking what the different vendors offer and seeing which one sounds like it will fit your needs. There is a vendor section on the forum homepage that will link you to sites offering what you are looking for, and have established a good reputation in this community. Glad Mazda replaced your stock mounts for you though, since some of them have been known to crack (the reason for the TSB).

What density is most recommended for these aftermarket mm's?

AWR has a 70 duro bushing, or the 88 duro if you want a stiffer feel. I have the 88 and it'll vibrate at idle if the A/C is on, but during normal driving its fine.
