dark green
around 130k miles
auto tranny
im assuming dx, because i looked at the comparisons between the models, and the ex and lx have power windows and other features, mine is basic everything
i got it for 2 grand from a friend, which is a preety good price for the car, and yes, it is a salvaged title
she has blown rear speakers, i cant even hear the front speakers, the engine mounts are going out (but not in a bad shape yet), paint faiding on hood, i have only owned the car for 4 days (i havent even had time to finish putting it in my name) and some idiot in a parking lot gave me a little scratch on the front bumper drivers side corner, although the previous owner was a girl who didnt use it as a beater, there are stains on the headliner, and burn marks right over the cigaratte tray, also the little red airbag button is flashing, anyone know what that means? do i have an airbag or not?
i think its a preety good purchase, and im loving the gas milage so far, i have gone around 250 miles (im approximating in my head) and have just gone below the half tank mark
which is awsm considering i do a bit of comuting
the engine is of course, a 1.6 105 hp, which is dissapointing with an automatic transmittion
so...what can i do without sacrificing (possibly adding) milage?
i have once read that adding hotwires (for the ground) improves it, along w/ intake and exhaust (headers, etc), but i was just wondering, how much more power would basic upgrades give me?
a little info about me, i live in san fransisco bay area and i go to school and sell cell phones; i have owned (and still own) an 88 celica gt-conv, and this car is its replacement, or just an addition, i dont know yet, i have recently signed up for the scca and plan to use the celica
now, i dont know how this car is, but the celica is just impressive when it comes to longevity, mine has 345k miles and all it needs is basic maintenence, although it does have its share of problems from getting beat on (mostly cosmetic, and also an oil leak that noone knows where it comes from)
during my ownership of the celica, i have fallen in love w/ manual transmitions, they are just so much fun...
the protege is my 4th car, the first was a saab 900 turbo convertible, which ended up to be totalled and donated, the second very well kept 82 civic hatch which ended up getting stolen (ended up 3 states away), the third, i have already mentioned the celica
i will post pictures after i clean the car this weekend
nice to meet all of you, call me alex
