2011 Mazda 2 Touring
Hello everyone! I"m a proud new owner of a liquid silver Mazda2 Touring. I had the windows tinted about a week ago and I'm getting ready to swap the 4 door speakers. If anyone could point me to a "how-to" on removing the door panels, that would be great! I was also given a 150 decibel air horn that I'm tring to figure out how to install, the biggest challenge I believe is finding a small enough air compressor. Other than that, I'm enjoying the extra 20MPG I've been getting! My previous car was a Dodge Magnum R/T with the HEMI, it was fun, but too expensive at the pump.

If anyone has any tips or ideas feel free to post!

I saw somewhere on this forum that the stock door speakers are extra thin because of the smaller magnets. So be ready for the possibility of having to find special speakers that are thin enough to fit.

EDIT:
Here is the info I saw about the speaker sizes...
Hey guys, I just swapped out my fronts with JL audio coax units and my understanding is they're 6.5". HOWEVER because of the unique design Mazda used in these (tiny Neodymium magnets, interesting basket design) new drivers are NOT drop in replacements... My shop had to use a 1" spacer ring, AND fabricate a new flange for the ring to bolt to (Mazda used a 3 bolt pattern in the OEM speaker frames) The frame of the door can get in the way of the basket on a new driver. Be sure you use a good shop. I'm quite mechanically inclined and even I opted to pay them the $50 install fee ;-)
Maybe send Gravity a message about his experience since he just got done spending thousands of dollars upgrading the entire speaker system, I'm sure he can give you some good insight.

gvblake22: I already have one of the speakers installed. Pretty easy actually, only 2 screws to take out and then 6 or so snaps for the panel. 3 screws on the actual speaker, crimp on new quick disconnects and all done! There's a pretty big hole in the door for just about any speaker to fit, I have Polk Audio DB651, it fit with room to spare so I'd assume just about any 6.5" speaker would fit.

speedracr79: Thanks for the info, I'll check them out. Pics are soon to come!
