new option for intake.

Can we get a ballpark ETA from the guy who will be designing/fabricating these? Sounds sweet =)

is it just me or is my brain child slowly dying. i mean people talk about how they want different options in intakes that arent as expensive as aem and injen, but if i go in to meet with this guy and i only have two names on the list he is going to laugh me out of the shop and then charge me into the ground for making a one-off piece.

I'm down, gauranteed.

Get closer to set pricing, give us the suppliers thoughts on what they'd do, and I will likely buy one. It seems as though I'll always be able to sell the Injen... but I'm impatient, so when the Injen shows up, it's gonna go on with the front mount.

I'd be down for it, depending on filter placement, heat shield, and final price!

I'd rather spend $150 on this (as long as it looks nice) than $250 on the Injen...

part of the reason you may only have a few names on the list is that we all have different mental images of what this thing will be and look like. When we all look at the different companies for CAIs, we see Injen, K&N, Vibrant, Ractive, E-bay, and true custom one-offs. There are many different setups and many different quality levels and attention to detail, different types of sleeves and even hose clamps.

For a shop to make it, and for people to commit, at a minimum I'd say that drawings would be needed with a very detailed explanation of parts that will be used. Pictures of "off the shelf" parts like cheapo hose clamps versus nicer and more secure fuel line style hoses, and type of silicon couplings would be good. Indications of whether grommets will be included for the air temp sensor, whether there will be brackets included to relocate the overflow resevoir, and how the intake will be supported are all things that are needed. If a shop is serious, I think these things would be easy to provide. If they're not provided, my conclusion is that either the part is not at all well thought out (and probably also poorly executed), or the shop is not serious.

Building a prototype is a necessary expense in today's marketplace, so if they're serious about selling these they should have no problem making a prototype, accepting feedback on it, and going into limited production.

Until I see these things, I'm not in. If I'm satisfied with what I see, I can very well see getting one for my winter intake.

needs a heat shield and to be able to work with a corksport hard pipe kit :)

If it comes with brakets and such and stays at $150 I am in and my spool cai will be up forsale. Also will a filter be included too?

xxmspxx- yes, most likely a k&n cone filter.

the man i talked to said that they would be intrested, but need to talk to the rest of the people at the shop, i expect an email back within a couple days. thanks for supporting my brain child.

Is this going to attach to the turbo to reduce the crazy long stock piping like the Injen, or is this a pipe to attach after the MAF? If it goes to the turbo I'm sure once you can get pictures of it you should get lots of interest.
