New MSP!

Heya All -

Just got my 2003.5 MSP this week. Great car and a blast to drive. :D I let my friend who owns a Mini Cooper S drive it and he was envious of the performance and handling. Now, where's that auto-x track?
Great forum you have here! Nice to know that the hesitation is for real and I haven't actually had my brains leak out of my ears and managed to forget how to drive a clutch.....

South Carolina - I don't live in the middle of nowhere, but I can see it from here...

Actually thanks in part to BMW and Michelin being nearby there are usually some good autocross events to be had. I missed the Mazda Revitup events in Atlanta and Charlotte this year but hope to catch it on the next go around!

welcome to the boards, ill be the person that flames mazdaspeeds...congrats on your new purchase, and ignore most of my comments about MSPs

BTW have you gotten "the leak", "the clunk", or "the hesistation" yet?

thx guys :)

As for the two questions,

1) yes - hesitation but it seems mostly when I'm just starting out, and in lower gears. When shifting or downshifting at speed on the highway I don't notice it nearly as much.

2) and yeah, titanium :D I was glad to see it looked better in real life than it did on the mazda website!

same here it does look better in person. Although this one girl I showed it too said it looked purple. WTF I was like are you blind its gray. Oh well it really looks good especially with the dark colored rims.

welcome to the group....and dont pay no mind to the hater ^^^

and dont pay no mind to the hater

that being established, that will just make people pay MORE attention, thanks for the support discreet i always knew i could count on you :-)~

Heh....Razor doesn't bother me, it's great to see someone able to express their opinion without being an ass about it :D

So - anyone know any links in this forum addressing that hesitation I feel during shifting? Is it driver error, known mechanical, etc? Like I said before, I don't get it all the time, and I am ready to learn all I can about this car from people that have had the experience of driving it

Welcome aboard!!

All forums have their Nimrodal Fuckeros. It's just the way things is....(rofl)

I showed my titanium to the people at work and they said the same thing. "It has a purple hue to it."

It was an overcast day and after they mentioned it, I took a hard look at it, and it really did give off a hint of purple.

Oh well... I still love the color.

Mark

Welcome and enjoy! I still think the best part is no matter how much fun I'm having driving it, it makes it just that much better that I don't see one at every streetlight...actually, not even close!

Autocross you say? Not much around the Greenville area for SCCA(as opposed to Atlanta or Charlotte), but we(Clemson Sports Car Club) have monthly(sometimes every other week) autocrosses in Clemson that are very imformal, small and have limited restrictions. Check us out at: http://www.clemson.edu/cscc or at wsbf.net/phpBB and click on the CSCC forum. We're always looking for new people to join us(more people=more support from the university)

Anyway questions, feel free to ask. N1XRR-MM@charter.net

I'm in Greer, by the way.

Bah, screw the break-in period. Most engines don't really need it. now i'm not saying go all out on it, but just drive it like you normally do, no need to baby it.
