New MSP. Wondering upgrades...

I've recently purchased a new MSP. No upgrades are on it currently, but I'm wondering some of my options. I've reviewed this forum and couldn't really finda starting out guid or anything, but I'm pretty new to the modding scene.

Since it has no upgrades on it, and I'd like to spend around 500-1000 dollars initially, what does everyone think I should spend my money on? Boost timer? Cold air intake?

I'd like some suggestions as to what I should spend my money on to get the most horsepower and torque out of it that I can with as limited funds I have.

No abbreviations please (FPR, ect) for I am too new to understand most of those. Any help?

well it has been discussed alot over and over again but to point u in the right direction u need to specify are you looking for more power (most likly kause that seems to be the only place the msp is rly lacking), better handling, or better looks

Honestly, I'm a power junkie. :D

I'd much rather have more power first and worry about the looks later. (that way, I can have a "sleeper" for a little bit. :D)

Well u can get a boost controller cheap but u wont want to boost much higher than 8psi without getting engine management. Honestly if it were me I would do it right the first time and if you dont know that much about turbo cars. You might want to go with UNICHIP. for about 800. www.corksport.com this will up your boost to 10psi. then for about 200 bucks u can get an intake, then an exhaust. That is what I would do. Its actually what i did do and it works great for me.

Also, when posting what mods you think I should get to my new MSP, could you do me a HUGE favor and politely put the estimated price next to it? Also, any popular manufacturers for said item would be much appreciated as well.

downpipe ($350ish), intake($120-180ish), and hardpipes($250-350ish) if $1000 is ALL you will be spending...

Downpipe, with exhaust and intake if you will be upgrading to a front mount intercooler in the future (front mount, FMIC, costs about $800 for a quality kit, so itll prolly have to wait).

welcome

EDIT: Dont get a boost controller until you know ALOT more about your car... the tempation to up boost is too much for someone starting off, and all you will have within 6 months is a pile of parts known as a zoom zoom boomed engine.

There are a lot of high quality manufacturers for the MSP on this site, just search for MAM, hiboost, wagner, MPI, WOMP, etc... Also corksport and protegegarage.com (CaptainKrmp5) sell an assload of stuff for the MSP...

just remember: price, quality, and quickness. You get to pick two.

friar click on the link in my sig and input how much money you paid for your NEW MSP.

We manufactor several pieces for the MSP.I encourage you to look at www.**************************.com and see what we have to offer. We have a few other items that are not listed on the site yet.If you do a search for Mental Addiction and MAM you will find several threads about our products. We have some of the fastest MSP's using our products.505Zoom is making 265whp on 12psi using our FMIC,tubular manifold and Turbo upgrade.
Here is a dyno vid when he installed our MSP tubular manifold. At the time he was running an IOn FMIC.He later changed out and picked up 5-7 or so WHP.

I didn't want this to become a vendor-haven.

I want straight answers from actual MSP owners. Although if the people say that the products that the companies rep are good, I'll listen.

my very first mod was a boost controller and boost gauge. I noticed a difference right of the bat, although you should be careful when raising the boost in order to prevent blowing your engine.
But... since you mentioned spending around 500-1000 bucks, I recommend purchasing, the vibrant exhaust system. I love it. You should do some more research on it:)

Decide how much you want to spend in the long run, what kind of power would make you happy, and THEN make your game plan. There are a TON of upgrades you can do for the msp, and you will be a lot happier in the end if you get a solid plan of what you want to do with the car and then go for it. If you just start piecing stuff together with no end in sight, chances are you will end up having to change something and most likely lose out on some money that could have gone elsewhere.

So, what kind of power do you want to end up making with the car? 200whp? 250whp? 300+whp?

How much money do you want to spend on it? I know you said 500-1000 for now, but what do you forsee being logical to you for the entire project?

Check out the link in my signature that says 119's modifications, pics and specs here and you can see some of the parts that will get you into the 250whp ballpark. Taking it beyond that is going to get pretty pricey.
