New MSP owner: The good, the bad, the ugly

BrianV,

t3ase covered all of the angles here...

I would go to the dealership and make them give you the Kenwood Manual out of another speed (if Need Be). I was notified by my dealer in VA here that January is the supposed "Fix" for the clunk... not sure if that's the case, but what the hell.

Welcome to the club - mine's black too, and has had the same response from friends and stranger alike. One woman here at work even describes my car to other beople as being one of the coolest "stealth" cars in the parking lot - and we're both, well, old enough to be parents to some of the members of this forum ;). Radio's a beast, do some searches on the forum for more info, t3ase covered the main point (Repeat the mantra "The Reset Button Is My Friend, The Reset Button Is My Friend").

Enjoy!

Nope first time in the dealer was Sunday.

I got the stereo fixed. After a few removing and reinserting the face it turned back on. I suppose the contact was not quite there.

Hopefully they will refine the bushings to fix the clunk. As far as the flash, I don't know if I should do it because I want to add the MBC.

You got any mods on yours? You got AIM, I'd like to chat with you sometime. I'm in North Austin as well.

Brain V on the CD mine did that. Unhook the Negative battery cable for a few mins and put back on. That is what it took to fix mine.

I'm running post flash with an FPR kit at around 11psi daily with no engine trouble. At 14psi, I have audible pinging, so don't go that high, but you can still enjoy a MBC with the flash. Just don't be stupid.

t3ase do you think the FPR is necessary at 11. I tihnk I'll just run 10. Is stock boost 5 or 6 PSI? Abut what WHP is seen at 10? What are you running for intake?

Preflash; FPR kit helped out a LOT.
Postflash; no idea yet.

Stock boost varies from car to car, actually. Mine was stock at high fours/low low fives. Others have reported a stock boost of around 5 and some had 6.9 or so. *shrug*

WHP.. Have no idea. WHP on our cars varies so much depending on so many factors. I'd say maybe ~190?

Intake right now is the stock airbox and the K&N cone filter for when I go out and just want the noise to show off/be stupid/scare old people in parking lots.

Hehe... guess what? :D Yup, radio stopped working - sounds exactly like Brian's description. I'll try the battery "fix," my question is does that actually fix the problem for good, or do I need to have the dealer replace the radio? My second question is, even though I purchased the car in Georgetown, I can still take it to Mazda South, right? Or no? Mazda South and Premier Mazda are both Roger Beasley...

Good lord I love this head unit - especially all the EQ settings - parameteric EQ? Awesome! :D I played around with that for at least half an hour last night - just hope I can remember what the settings were :p

Zray,
Do not disconnect the battery, all you need to do is press the reset button (little round button to the left of the SRC button) and your radio should be fixed.

Sorry for not reading the whole thread and if someone already suggested this then whatever.

Use a paperclip or a ball poit pen and push the little reset button on the head unit. Goes right back to original settings from Kenwood.
