New MS3 Owner!

Hey guys/gals,

Just got an 09 MS3 and love it. Traded in my 01 S2000; loved it too but needed more room with no decline in fun factor.

Love the torque; don't have to kill it to make it go. To be a relatively big car, it still stays planted pretty well.

I"ll probably leave the engine alone for a while since traction is the limiting factor, but I am looking to get the cobb suspension components.

I'm looking forward to the next meet in the VB area!

Welcome to Mazda Forums! (hi)

Congrats on the MS3...You've come to the right place...Be sure to post (pics) and keep us updated on your progress...Most importantly...Enjoy the forums! :D

Welcome!.....I once had an S2000 back in the days before kids. I loved that car and wish I still had it.......You will be very happy with the MS3. It is my daily commuter, 120 miles per day, 5 days/week and no real issues yet. I currently have 20K on the clock and was purchased back in May....I am running Mobil 1 full synthetic and find the oil is good til 5k then it starts getting dirty.....I will keep it stock but will replace the shocks with Koni FSD's once they wear out.

Welcome to the forum. I understand your reasoning on mods and your desire to upgrade the handling. But, for what it is worth, consider doing something, anything, on the intake side, either CAI or SRI.

The stock airbox is extremely restrictive. Aftermarket intakes are easy to install, are a relatively cheap mod, and this car responds so well to a simple high flow intake. Incredible bang for the buck. Might be the only underhood mod you ever need, depending on how you drive the car. SRI simpler. CAI quieter. Either a fantastic performance per dollar mod.

Car & Driver and Road & Track mags both noted 20 whp gains from intake alone. They did not lie. The gains are all across the already very fat power band.

welcome, small mods can really wake this car up. swaybars are one of the biggest improvements you can do to the handling besides coilovers.

IF that is true, that is one serious no brainer mod. I've only seen 5-10 whp from most all CAI's, but this is a turbo.
