New Metra Dash Kit (99-7509)

Also, FWIW, according to Scosche's 2008 Product Catalog (Page 6), their kit for the Mazda5 was scheduled to be released in February... although it's not out yet. I emailed them to see if there are any updates with this. The Scosche kit IS silver to match OEM of the 06-07, and it's part# MA1538B.
Just got an email response from Scosche regarding the Mazda5 dash kit. Tentative release date is now June, at the earliest.

FYI the Metra kit is not out yet. I ordered it from Installer.com thinking if they are selling it that it must be out. Nope. This sucks as I ordered everything else for my install thinking I could install everything next week. Not good. If anyone knows of any other sites selling a kit I would be very grateful.

DUDE, you're like my identical twin with this. I ordered it from Installer.com over the weekend, just emailed them like 2 hours ago for an update as it's in "Processing" status and I too wanted the thing shipped out pronto to start working on it this coming weekend, and yeah, was also told dealers aren't getting it yet.

Kinda pissed because why is it on their site if it's not available... but "Dwayne" was very quick in replying to my email, and I'm all about small business over CC/BB/Crutchfield types, so I agreed to keep the order open through time time they receive the kits.

My appologies for the misinformation with the Metra kit being available. I too was obviously a victim of finding out the hard way (shrug)

Maybe with 2 folks emailing about the same kit...just maybe he will put in a call into Metra and hurry it up. Doubtful I know. I ordered the AvicD3, XM, Bluetooth and Ipod adapter from Crutchfield...arriving Friday. I will just hold on to everything until I get to day 24 or so and then return it under the 30 day money back. That will suck BTW because the price has gone up $200.

Don't understand, you'll return all the Crutchfield stuff? Why would you do that, esp if the price has gone up? Definitely sucks to get all those tasty goodies only to have your plans foiled by a couple pieces of plastic (hand)

I'm gonna email Metra to try to get some kind of time estimate directly from them. Will update with any kind of response back from them... if they give me some nutty ETA of mid-summer like Scosche, I'm gonna just cancel my order from Installer.com, although I guess I have a feeling it shouldn't be that long. We shall hopefully find out shortly.

Well if its gonna be more than 2 months before the kits are out I would rather return the stuff on the off chance something better comes out. Maybe...maybe not. Just really bummed. I haven't had a car without Nav in 7 years. I am going on a trip in 3 weeks.....I might have to....buy paper maps <insert sarcasm>!!! How 90's!

okay... thought that might be your logic, which is completely understandable. My email to Metra was just sent, so cross your fingers on a prompt response back from them! I'm really sorry man, it sucks... I feel like I just killed your puppy!

Lol, just pull up Mapquest... that site ALWAYS lays out directions perfectly (ugh)

$80 bux?! Damn. I’m a little nervous about the $25.50 at Installer.com now, although I did say I’ll leave the order open under the condition that the price doesn’t change. Honestly, I’d think the $25 is more accurate but I guess at this point there’s no way of knowing for sure. Thanks for the update.

or even better...I have a cell phone WITH gps. I use google maps or Windows Live (the latter has voice command now) :D

True, but hey, that is my job phone so I never see a bill for the service, plus I have all-you-can-eat data in the plan (and I get new phone every year or so) ;), can't complain on that, LOL

My phone (T-Mobile Dash) is smart..but doesn't have GPS.

On a good note. autotoys.com stated they have the kit in stock. I ordered it. We will see if they can actually ship it.

Something to consider, if they actually do have it, that probably indicates Metra has begun the process of distributing it to dealers, in which case the $25 one should be available soon too.

Exciting news to hear it's actually in existence though, thanks again for the update.

The Pioneer $200 rebate is good through the end of April.

You must post pics. May also want to update us if you got confirmation of a shipment.
My order for the Metra 99-7509 dash kit from Installer.com has been shipped. $33 OTD. I do not have a tracking number, but the email states it's being shipped Priority USPS.

I'll update again when it's in my own two hands.

My autotoys.com order is just sitting.
Take the opportunity to nip that in the bud. See if you can't cancel it and order the kit from Installer.com... I mean seriously, $80 for a Metra kit?! But on the other hand, maybe you shouldn't make any rash decisions... I guess we need to keep in mind that we know what happens when we assume they mean what they say. I'm not betting the farm until I have the kit physically sitting on my doorstep.

Hopefully you can get this worked out somehow. All those high end 12v goodies, held up by all this drama over a few pieces of fancy plastic.

Trying to cancel now. I am Mr. Impatient and ADD. Which is odd seeing as I am an airline pilot who sits for 3+ hrs at a time.....yeaaah.
