new member.. got some questions

whats up everyone ive been on here poking around and reading up on the MS3 since june and im really determined to buy a MS3.. im in the process of saving up and ill most likey be making my purchase in late january of 2009... i do have one question though whats the difference between the 08's and 08.5's?? ive read thats its just the piano black interior peices but is that all?? also ive got three first mod ideas that i wanted to share with eveyone first i would get the CP-E motor mount and then i want an intake and im tossed beween the Cobb SRI and the CP-E CAI.. any reason why i should get either one instead of the other?? i have a CAI on my ZX2 and i love the low end i get from it and i was wondering if there is a major difference between a CAI and SRI on a turboed car.. and my third mod would be an HKS SSQV on recirc... i look forward to becoming a part of the MS3 community and i hope you welcome me with open arms so to speak

In my opinion there is no difference between a SRI and CAI on a turbo'd car. The two advantages I see using a SRI are accessibility and having the piece of mind knowing you're chances of hydro-lock are slim to none. I had purchased the Cobb SRI but ended up canceling the order because of the wait... so I pre-ordered the CP-E SRI.

The changes between 08 and 08.5 that i'm aware of are: piano black trim, mp3 disc changer, seats (maybe?) and some implemented TSB's i'm sure.
 
yeah air go's through an intercooler so basically not much difference this is gonna start a huge argument. but let me state this. my friend has an injen cai. i have a cobb sri we raced with only these mods from a dig and i beat him by a fender. (i could just be a better drive but) ne ways if the cobb sri is available when u buy ur car go for it other wise go for the cpe sri. cai is to hard to take off for dealer visits and what not. as for the mm i would suggest trz over cpe my buddy has the cpe i have to trz poly i hop a little less. and for difference on the car yeah just the interior and one is mp3 capable i believe.
 
yea hydro-lock was my toss up.. in my ZX2 the air filter sits in a pocket where the factory resonator was its not outside the engine bay but alot farther away and shielded from heat i wasnt sure if this was the case with the MS3 or not... CP-E is making a SRI?? you dont happen to have a projected date do you??

If your worried about hydrolock with a CAI:
1. Buy the Injen Hydro Shield
2. During instalation, there are two parts that the instructions recommend taking off of the car, but I recommended leaving them.
a. there is small splash guard that goes in front of the radiator. Leave it on!
b. you can trim the rear splash guard in order to fit the CAI.

You should be good after that.
