Hello Forum,
I bought a 2002 Miata last summer. I disconnected the battery over the winter. I reconnected fully charged battery and immediately the horn alarm sounded continously. I was briefly unable to start the engine. I was also not able to move the automatic selector from park. My foot was on the brake.
(Let me say I was forced to compromise with automatic. Of course I will always regret it, but she does look good behind the wheel.)
The gear selector did come out of park, and when I put it back into park from neutral, then it did start. I drove it for five miles and all seemed normal. I disconnected battery again to have the battery load tested, and it checked OK. Same alarm noise occured again today, so it is still disconnected.
Am I missing a key step?
Thank you.
Jim
