New Member - 2007 or 2008 Speed3?

Hello everyone... im in a jam here and could use some valuable input...

I will be in the market for a mazdaspeed 3 in the next 3 weeks. My local dealership has a 2007 avaliable right now, or i can order a 2008 to take delivery in august give or take one month. Both are the same price....


What should i do? I herd there are some minor issues with a 3rd gear slip/reflashing etc... has anyone herd if there are any changes or kinks hammered out for the 08?

There are no serious issues with the 07. Just get it and deal with a few problems that are bound to happen. Even if the 08's hammer out a few little things its not like there wont be new things that will creep up on that one.

3rd gear slipping? Havent heard of that yet. And are you trying to say 3rd gear reflashing? or just reflashing? either way the first one ive never heard of lol and the later isnt necessary

I dont know anything about the 3rd gear but flashing dont mean anything,They can reflash the 07s.There is no reason to wait unless you dont want the car now or you want one of the new colors.

3rd gear is fine here. If they can reflash it, go for it. Might as well get the first production run. These cars are keepers, and since the they are limited edition, the resale value will always be fairly high so long as you don't go adding in cheap ebay parts or anything.

I sure hope this doesnt hold true to all of us but no doubt it happened to you so sorry to hear that. Good luck and be sure they replace everything they should.

PS the dealer I bought at said the Speed line has no plans for an 08 so check into that again. Either that or the guy that told me this is an idiot.

The dealers don't know anything yet. I'm sure they have a policy of erring on the side of caution when no information is available.

Either that or they bent the truth a little when they were making the sale.

I personally put in an order for an 08 MS3 2 weeks ago, and I've read that someone else on this forum has done the same. My dealer assumed that nothing would change with the car, but he also had no information to confirm or deny that. So no word on the new color rumor yet. Also, when I talked to the same dealer a couple months ago, they said there were no plans for an '08. However, they were trying to make the sale.

I have a build date of Mar 07, I would think all the issues from the earlier batch would of been solved. I don't see why there would be any difference in the 08 at this point(except for options).
