I brought my wife’s car to a new mechanic. It was supposed to be a quick job. Oil change, tires, and brakes. They kept the car for two and a half days. Said they couldn’t get to it. (They had a lot of cars there, they even had to park cars across the street)
When I picked it up the engine felt different. It starts fine. But when I put it in reverse or drive slow, it feels off. Sluggish. The response is not the same. I’ve driven this car a lot. Something is not right.
I looked at the engine block. The number stamped on it is PE1022007173.
The car is a 2016 Mazda CX-5 GX AWD. The build date on the door sticker says April 2015.
I started researching. People say Mazda engine serials go up over time. If that’s true, then this engine might have been built after the car. That would mean it was swapped.
Did they actually switch the engine while they had it?
Is that even possible?
If anyone here has a PE engine with a number close to PE1022xxxxx, and knows what year it’s from, I’d really appreciate your help.
I need to know what happened. My wife is going to lose it if I tell her what I think they did
