New mazdaspeed CAI?

Actually, I just caught something that I didn't realize before (Because this has been covered real recently - the MS intake being re-released). If you notice, the intake details says it's 2.5" piping now. The MSCAI before was 2.75" piping. Hmm..

Really? I tried to check this but the mazda site is down...... VW must have hacked it..... Stupid golfs

Went into the dealership yesterday and they said Mazda hasn't re-released their CAI. So does anyone know if its really out?

my dealer got the new ones, i've seen them (in boxes anyway). My parts guy confirmed they were different part numbers than the original too.

What makes it any better to use the the Mazda one instead of a aftermarket?

warranty would be the only thing I can think of. For someone like me who just got my MS3 3 weeks ago what better first mod than one thats lets me keep my warranty intact.

true, but it's unfortunate that it costs so much and you have to factor in the labor too. not to mention the horror stories floating around this forum about the ones that have the MS CAI that have their warranties voided for whatever reason. and for that much money (parts and labor) there are countless others that will tell you to get this, that, and the other for the same money, but obviously more performance etc.

however, for every person out there that gets any aftermarket part to improve their car there must be others that go the way of the dealer to get some more power but with the warranty.

kinda like how the scion tc has the dealer supercharger install option. costs a lot of money in parts and labor, and i think they only pulled out another 40 or so hp, but it's under warranty and done by "professionals" so no blame can really be put on the owner

Here's where I"m coming from. 06' WRX, in the last 12 months was down 6 months, 2 months for a blown 5spd then swapped for a STI transmission. Then 4 more months after I obliterated a piston that then slammed into one of the cylinder heads. Close to $20,000 invested between 5 different intercoolers, 4 turbo setups, built motor, etc. then totaled 800 miles into the built motor.

Thats why i'd like to try to keep my warranty. (cryhard)

You obviosly didn't love your subaru (gun)

i'm not sure how much i trust the mscai. sure, it's a mazda part, but they don't do a lot with 'upgrades' compared with companies such as cobb, cp-e, etc. that have proven their ability.

But its mazda's car and they did a great job creating it. I'll give it a shot with 30,000 miles left on my warranty. If I don't like their exhaust or intake I'll switch it when the warranty ends
