2005 Mazda3 5 door
Hey all. Just got my first Mazda about a month ago and I just found this forum. I got a 2005 Mazda3 5-door. I am looking to do some mods myself, but I have never done any before and I really don't know where to start. Any ideas?

welcome to the boards!
i am pretty new at modding too but i would recommend starting with the easy stuff so you feel more comfortable working on your car, i know that when i start i i didnt even want to take the head unit out to install my sub just because i was afraid of breaking it.
in any case, good luck and post some pics after your first mod.

Thanks for all of your welcomes. I will definitely be starting out slow and working my way up. I will be too upset if I mess anything up. I will make sure to post some pics when I get my first project done. I want to get started before it gets cold around here.

Welcome to the Mazda Forums. How much are you looking to spend on your first mod? To me its, pretty addicting. So once you start you will want to keep going. Start small and end up at the turbo. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You know I haven't decided on a price range yet. My husband does all kinds of stuff to his car he uses in shows, so I am sure I have plenty to spend to catch up to all he has spent over the years. I figure since I go to all of his shows I may as well join in the fun and start doing some work on my own car. I should probably decide on my dollar limit for this year, otherwise I will be like him with a new package arriving almost every other day.

hahaha... nothin wrong with that... start orderin some shiat and when he says wtf... just point at all his boxes and shrug... hehehe...pretty much depends where you want to go first... sound/speed.... you could get all fancy and get a video set up but since you said do it yourself... i would think some amps/speakers/subs would be a nice place to start... or an intake/exhaust mod.... intakes are more do it yourself... exhausts can be if you have the right tools... and stereos all depends on your confidence in the 12v car electrical system, and if you will be happy with your first time results...

tsunami, have you been in my head listening to my ideas? (glare) that was exactly my plan. he can't complain at all! i have been looking at a lot of stuff and i think i might start with an intake and then start doing stuff with sound. i know more about sound systems than the speed stuff anyways, i may as well start with what i know for this year. while i am working on that i can start looking into and learning stuff so maybe after the winter i can start work on other mods.
