It's been fantastic so far. Front wheel drive and winter tires are a great combo for lousy weather. Is the GFX package the same as the side sill extensions/side moldings I have? US specs are a bit different.

What I'm going to do next winter (my Mazda3 is coming in April), is to save my 17-inch rims and go with P205/55R16 sized tires with steel wheels. Yes, there are winter tires in P205/50R17 but they're awefully expensive.

And one more thing delpieve, can you add your location to your profile. It really helps with providing local answers and reduces confusions.

information was just added to my profile thanks wongpres...have you looked in to any prices as yet for the 2055017 steels and tires...mine is coming in middle of march so i should be ok for this year also

I have been waiting over 6 weeks for my new 3..anyone else in Canada been getting the royal poop chute treatment...it keeps getting longer and longer....

Just curious...which dealer did you go with? I am in Edmonton also, and am looking to possibly purchase a 3 in the next week or two. Waiting for upwards of 6 weeks does not sound encouraging.

i had to wait for 3 weeks to get mine...it was on it way already from japan so i was lucky

I went with sundance mazda in the west end.....but they do have 3's in stock Its just that if you have a certain package coulour in mind.....then you will probably have to wait...I am now in my 8th week without my 3

OK So I just called my dealer today because what i origanlly got told I was thinking it should be here next week. So I called and found out that its going to be a minimum of another 4 weeks I have already been waiting 3!!! I hate my delaership I kinda get the impression that I am getting screwed around and it really ticked me off how they didnt call to tell me the bad news!

well if it makes you feel any better you are not alone in that situation the exact same thing happened to me I called during the week that it was originally supposed to be in and they told me the same thing that they told me when i bought it.....and then added another couple of weeks onto it..I was pissed

I was at a dealer here in Boston this week taking the 3 out for a ride (my 1997 Proto was getting jealous.... I am bringing home some fuel system treatment and a new air filter tonight to make it up to her). I do not think I am in the market quite yet, but it was an awesome ride, second only to the Mini and far more practical than the "go-cart". However I was told the 3 is selling MUCH better than the expected. Something like 165% of production capacity. As such there are long waits for special orders, but I think it will be worth it for you. I just hope there is one left for me when I can afford it. :'(

PS I think the steel 16s with snows is a really good idea. I lived in Maine for a few years and have sworn by snow tires since. You can probably get the rims and the tires for a much better price than the 17 since they are common on everyday sedans like Camrys Accords and Tauruses, while the 17s are "exotic". Car might not look as sweet in winter, but it will save those rims and your wallet.

If you don't mind me asking, what kind of discount did Sundance offer off MSRP. Jarman Mazda was offering about $875-900 off on a GT/cloth/auto without GFX.

I got about $1000 off msrp on the gt with gfx......but most of that was due to wife being employed by GE...so she gets discount...they have to let us see the invoice price though...so if you want when i get it I can let you know exactly what they paid for it...

That would be great. I am guessing similar to the protege5...about 1600 off MSRP.

hey can anyone give me any suggestions on my situation...Have been put off numerous times byt dealer...dealer faxed me price on feb 22 , 2004 telling me that car was only 2-3 weeks away...originally signed for car jan 25 was told 4-6 weeks for the car.....called salesman mar 4,2004 was told that car was complete and just being put on the boat....told it would be 2-3 weeks and would have by end of march GUARANTEED.....have now called mazda customer relations and was told that if the dealer could not provide me with VIN(which they couldn't) that means that car is not even complete....if thats the case then looking at minumum 5-6 weeks and if they have to put gfx package on in port which apparently they sometimes do...another 2-3 weeks...called sales manager at dealer and was basically told too bad......what does anyone think my chance of getting the $500 deposit back are and any other suggestions as to what I can do or ask for in return to this terrible service....

so basically was originally told 4-6 weeks am now looking at 10-12 weeks at best

thanks
just needed to vent

Well, I just ordered almost the same car as you 3 weeks ago so I'm hoping I don't end up getting the same lousy story from my dealer. I was told no more than six weeks for a leather GT with GFX. Anyways, if I were you I would start dropping in and bugging the sales manager. They broke their promise to you so you have every right to bother them... this will drive them nuts and they will try harder to get a car for you just to get rid of you once and for all. Unfortunately you have to be a dick to get anywhere sometimes....

so I said f**K it and went to a different dealer after spending most of the day on the phone yesterday with mazda canada(useless) and the owner of the dealership...called around and found a silver one that the dealer in sherwood park, ab was willing to bring in from another dealer that owed him a favour...matched the price no problem same amount on my trade signed the papers last night and will have the car by friday at the latest......indigo blue was my first choice but silver was a close second so didnt really settle...but have a car alot sooner now...got great service...
