New intake manifold

Does anybody make a new intake manifold for our cars? I just went with a buddy to buy a 2002 A4 with the 1.8t and they have a nice intake manifold that you can tell was made for an FI'd car. Short runners and a can per say. Almost like a log header, with it coming in the side.
I talked to my cousin about it, (he works for Navistar, developing future and current propulsion systems) and he said we would see a significant gain with an IM like the Audi's/VW's. Said ours is way too damn big with too long of runners for a turbo. Said its a waste to have to fill all that big ass thing up with compressed air. Very ineffecient.
If no one makes one for our cars then I'm going to have to do it. I made all of my turbo header, downpipe, etc, I think I can do this. JGS has all the flanges and injector ports I'd need I believe, just have to make the tube and runners.
Would prefer to buy one, but if not then i'll have to do it.

Beau said he might make one later on but now he is still swamped with thumper and AEM.

ive been waiting for an IM for a while now. If you get a working version I would love to see some pics!

have you ever seen that SCCA blue mazda protege that they run in those races against bmw's and what not? Ive seen shows where they open the hood on it, and it has this IM that looks like about a 5" or so SS tube with the runners about 4 inches long straight into the head. Had the injectors in the same place, angled into the runners, towards the head.
Thats what I'm going for. My cousin will figure out sizing of the tube, runners etc, and i will fab it up.

Now for some help on info from you guys. Does anybody know if the IM flange is the same as the EM flange? if it is then i can just buy the flange from JGS like i did for the EM when i made my turbo mani. I went to the auto places to see if they stocked either gasket to compare them that way, but of course they were both special order. Any info would be appreciated.

And i will probably make the first one out of steel, because its a lot easier to work with. Plus i can weld that good. When i get the final design done, I'll have the head of my welding crew at work weld it up in SS. Hes an older guy about 50 or so. He is amazing. He can weld anything. Ideally it would be nice if it could be cast out of aluminum. I'll have to talk to Beau about that. Not sure how i would go about casting it..

subscribes for info...

will you make it work with the factory fuel rail/Mental Addiction Fuel Rail?

We are having the intake manifold flanges cut now.The flange design is finshed and the CAD file is with the machinst.
We will not be starting on this for sometime(2-3 months).Right now we need to finish the AEM,billet interior accessories and oil pan.
Once we finish these pieces then we will start on the intake manifold.

yes that would be the plan. I dont want to have to machine a bunch of new stuff just to use a new IM

What kind of IM are you guys planning?

A new manifold with secondary injector bosses/nitrous bosses, accepts hiflow fuel rail along with a larger bore throttle body would be great!

Then you should offer a complete rebuilt high flow port and polished cylinder head with cams, 1 size over valves, valvesprings, retainers, and cam gears.

Do you want fries with that too?

Mental Addiction

Any more info on your intake mani? I have not had the time to start mine yet, as we are putting in an all new processing system at work
