New hitch unpacking condition

Never bought a brand new hitch before and I know they are pretty much indestructible but I figured that a new hitch should not have any serious scratches or paint chips.

I ordered the Valley class III hitch for the CX-9 and got it yesterday. The front face of the tube was scratched down to the metal in three-four places with some pretty good grooves in one area. Also, the paint around the mounting plates was flaking off.

I am sure I could touch it up easily and never notice it once the hitch is installed. I guess I just want to be sure I have not received a particularly abused unit.

Would love to hear of other experiences.

Thanks!

I would send it back and get a Curt or Hidden Hitch.

1. I've never been impressed with Valley

2. That looks like either a lack or care in packing, or manufacturing, or was used.

Agree. Not acceptable. This is not a piece of farm equipment. It should have been packed and handled more carefully. Send it back.
