Question, Draxas is taking ore-orders for their headers for the mazda3....Seems like a good product...the exhuats was a good product...BUT the diameter they are using is 1 5/8"....This doesnt seem too big. I know the stock mazda 6 & I think the focus(not actually sure about the 3, think it'd be the same though) has a 1 1/2".....So doing the math these headers are basically .125" bigger???? Does that actually do anything???? I'm gonna be going FI later on(god willing), and want to make sure #1 I'm not wasting money b/c I'll need to replace them....AND #2...even without going FI will that small of a diff actually work??? I know every little bit helps...but just sounds wierd....Draxas is claiming about 15WHP diff for a mazda3 ALREADY equipped w/ CAI & exhuast....any thoughts??? As you can see I DO have cai and their exhaust....so the gains sound tempting..but still .125" of an inch?????

The header isn't going to make it's power just because of larger piping, it'll make the most power because it removes the big ass factory cat that blocks the exaust 6 inches into the stock manifold..

i'd probably save my 'performance' money up and put it all into the fi fund. that way you know you won't be buying something twice (as in two manifolds).

correct me if i'm wrong but wouldn't a turbo application have its own header/downpipe assembly? thus making aftermarket headers useless?

5/8" is the size of most of the Focus headers. I think Marcy uses 1 3/4" and the Cosworth is 1 7/8"...so it will be the smallest of the bunch. I think the only one testing them is Marcy and I bet his will make the most hp/tq. I will get the Draxas one, since his will be out first though. And maybe which up later.

I will say there will be a 10whp/10wtq gain with the headers. I just can't wait to hear how it sounds with the off-raod exhaust.

that's what i thought ..

just something to hold me over. i'm sure they will be easy to resell with the surging popularity of the 3.
