Ah good to know they've got a good program. I'm a bit bummed because I won't know anyone there, but I'm looking forward to getting out of here! Ah, same with my tires I've got 2/32 and 5/32 and I'm hoping I can squeeze one more season out of them, so I've been on the lookout for replacements.

If you end up on Alumni Quad (the downtown dorms) they have open halls in the dorms rather than the suite layout that they have on the uptown campus so you seem to have a better sense of community. The only drawback is that you share bathrooms with like 25 others rather than 5 others.

just as viVid mentioned... 18s are not necessarily your friend. I'd go with th 17s and then try to get the Tokico Illuminas/Racing Beat springs combo (MSP setup) or something adjustable (coilovers)... you could just get springs but you'll wear out the stock shocks really quick and it'll make the ride harsher than with a good setup.

congrats on your purchase... soccer moms or crack dealers, however you got it, it was a steal...

Thanks for the advice... I am coming across different opinions, some say to get a nice ride, go with Springs vs Coilovers... others think different, I was looking at the Tein MP5 springs....don't know yet.
One thing I do know, I will be sticking w/17's...

cool, thanks for the info Albany, I don't mind doing the hall thing too much, but the suite would be way better.

If you really want to spend some of that money you saved, try the Tien SS coilovers, I believe BrianMP5 has them on his P5 and absolutely loves them. I myself am just going to get tokicos with the eibach pro kit, simply due to cost and there was some concern about how coilovers would take the winter.

Depends what you're looking for really. Is your main focus going to be performance improvements, or is it going to be appearance?

I have the Tein S-Tech spring and love them. I think the drop is perfect (appearance-wise), and there is a slight improvement over OEM springs for cornering. However,...if your goal is performance improvements, I woudl say go with Eibach or H&R springs. As they have a better spring rate and will improve cornering much more than the Tein S-Tech's will.

Now,...about the rims. Most of the people that say "don't buy 18s,..you'll get killed with photholes, etc" have probably never been in a protege with 18s. I was running 19s last season with 35 series rubbers, and to be honest with you,..the ride was not that much rougher than it was when I was on 17s. Yeah, maybe a little bit,..I'm not going to lie. But it is nowhere near as bad as people make it sound. I didn't regret it one single bit (I'm only changing rims because I have a habit of changing them every season,...I have every year since I bought the car in 2002). With that being said though,..it goes back to what you want,..."appearance", or "performance".

Appearance over Performance.... I'll make basic performance changes down the line but at this point...its rims/springs/basic audio etc.

My first choice was 18's but most of the guys on the board advised different...I'll look it over again and take it from there...

Did you have 18's with the TIEN's ? If so what tire size did you run on them...

Last summer I was running 19s with the Teins. they were 19 x 7.5 with a +58.5 offset and 35 series rubbers. Didn't have rolled fenders, and it was fine most of the time. But if I had people in the back seat, I rubbed on the rear passenger side.

The P5 (or any Protege', for that matter) does not need 18's.

16s and big brakes would look different and cool. I like the look of 16s if the car is lowered right.

I like my 17's I got from Richie (Auto RND).

The E. Racer Wilwood kit will fit behind them, at least that is what they claim.

I have the kit, but I also have 17 in Rotas. (cheers)
