Dumb question, I'm sure...but could someone explain where I would find both the blow-off valve and the bypass valve, and explain the difference between the two (assuming they're not the same thing)? Sorry in advance and (bow) to people who give answers

i believe the difference between the two is that a BPV will recirculate the excess air back into the intake, while a BOV will vent to the atmosphere.

So the MS3 does not have both, it probably has a diverter valve stock (for emissions/noise reasons), but it can be replaced with a vented-to-atmosphere blow-off valve if desired? I was looking at the Forge replacements...they have both a blow-off valve and a bypass valve, so I got confused. I didn't think they had both, but I do remember two valves with my old FD (that was TT though, so I guess 2 valves makes sense). That's why I doubted myself.

So to confirm, the MS3 has a bypass valve stock, but it can be replaced with either an upgraded bypass valve or a blow-off valve if you want to VTA?

Thank you.

there should only be the one valve stock on the ms3... not really sure how there could possibly be 2 on it. i havent really heard anything bad about the forge BPV, everyone seems to like them. a BPV would be my suggestion, you really only need a BOV if you want to shout LOOK AT ME I HAVE A TURBO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! every time you shift.

There is only one bypass valve on the MS3. You shouldn't run in VTA with the MS3 unless you have something like the CPE Standback tuner and you can "trick" some of the car's sensors. If you don't have a CPU Tuner, and you try to run VTA, you will lose a lot of power efficiency. You should stick with an upgraded bypass valve that recirculates the air.

Personally I like the chirp sound from BOVs, but I don't see the point. Plus I hear you need to have a tune if you decide to VTA. Since the MS3 is a single turbo engine you will onlyhave the 1 BPV.
