New Forge BPV

My own experience has proven to me that the OEM BPV works perfectly and is the "best". Oh, and I'm running 21psi on it... I sold my Forge long ago and will likely sell my TXS as well. The piston-types are too sticky, slow to react, "bounce", and require frequent maintenance. They do make the "special" sound that most people are looking for and look really cool and shiny, but they do nothing to increase performance, unless you're feeling placebo effect.

if the stock one is the best piece for this car, then how come when i switched to the forge i noticed that i was spiking 2-3 psi higher then holding better too? maybe if the stocker is not leaking it is a better piece but lots of people have noticed that it does leak.

I can't say for sure on your situation, but a simple ambient temperature change or an ECT difference can result in those boost indications.... The point is, the OEM BPV is NOT automatically junk that must be replaced...

well i checked mine with the dh within min of each other. and i completely agree with you, if its not leaking there is defin no reason to replace it

pics of new setup... almost finished.

i've read this before in other threads. that the stock valve is fine. so i popped it back on figuring i'd just sell my forge and get a different mod. but after two weeks of drivin around with the stock valve back on i realized just how bad it really sucks.
boost just seemed to taper off with the stock valve. with the forge it spiked and held. according to my gauge.
no the car wasnt any faster or showing any more boost on the gauge but it did hold till the shift point. 55k. so in my case it was worth it.

so imho, if boost isnt tapering off, spend money else where.
though keep in mind boost tapers off after 5500 rpms regardless of what valve you have.

did you guys hear about the turbosmart bpv kit that SU is coming out with?

Benefits of the TurboSmart Bypass Valve Kit over ALL other Bypass Valves:

* Recirculates under light boost/normal daily driving conditions
* Choice of high pressure and low pressure springs.
* BPV spring rate is tunable to the vacuum of your car * * No Stalling or backfiring
* Holds boost more efficiently over stock valve
* Increases drivability and responsiveness
* Recirculation helps maintain proper A/F Ratios
* Gain Top End Horsepower

also it comes with the Standard Spring pressure which is rated at 10-20 PSI and the High Pressure Spring is rated to handle 20-25 PSI efficiently

yea, im kinda leaning towards getting this one. was thinking about jumpin on the preorder but i wanna see first what people have to say about them. they look a lot like the forge valve. same price. got rid of my forge valve because i didnt care too much for the sound.

+1 for the turbosmart, it looks exactly like the stocker and if it sounds anything like it i will be happy. stock bpv is already super loud with just cobb full intake. pray for no forge twang.

Strange, I could barely hear the stocker with an MS CAI. The Forge on the other hand is LOUD. Scares the sh*t out of people on the sidewalk as I drive by. lol

I thought it was too much at first, but now the forge sound is growing on me.

I would like to hear some audio of the redesigned one whenever it comes out. I may swap if it's a little more subdued.

The way I see it, if a recirc type BPV is making lots of air noise, it is holding the mainfold pressure too long and suddenly releasing it. It puts the load back into the turbo compressor wheel, the very thing a BPV is expected to eliminate. Sounds really cool to most folks though....

My assumption was that I couldn't hear the stocker because it was constantly leaking boost. But I could be wrong.
