New Exhaust for Mazdaspeed Proteges

Yeah and they probably gave you the wrong gasket for the j-pipe, so reuse the stock one or get one that is the right size.

I just reused the stock one. It works.

There is a j-pipe gasket? the only gasket i got is attached to the middle long pipe section with 3 bolts...i have nothing on my j-pipe.

Just use the stock one, it's a small thin layer of metal. Like sheet metal.

There should be 3. One for j-pipe (or reuse stock), one for long pipe and one for axle back. If you only use one gasket, your gonna have some serious exhaust leaks.

really? so i got shafted on 2 of them then?

I guess, but you can reuse the stock one at the j-pipe. The other two are the same, just take the one you have to an auto parts store or exhaust shop and match up the size. It should not be too hard to find.

Lol, welcome to the Vibrant Exhaust support group, home of the longest and longest lasting thread ever. JK

This is a very long thread....but it's a good days worth of reading for someone who really needs to be sold on this great exhaust.

I just put my vibrant in today....took me forever but in all went smoothly. I ended up using kartboy hangers.....BUT my suffler hangs too high and hits the bumber also it seems like its a little bit off to the left, its not centered in the middle of the arc on the bumber.

Can anyone help me out? I tried heating the metal part that goes into the hanger but could budge that thing.....need help fast before my bumper melts on me~

didnt have that problem, but try using the stock hanger on the muffler and see if that brings it down alittle, first try the rear hanger then try both hangers, as long as the two hangers up by the cat are kartboy you shouldnt have any banging on the cross member issues

On the passengar side, use both the Karyboy and the stock hanger. This will force the muffler to the drivers side a little, that's what I had to do. This also cured the rattle on the bumper, cause it was hitting under the bumper behind the lip, not where you could see it.

I had this problem too. Just go to Pep Boys and get a different hanger. They should have one that is about an inch longer than the kartboy. I used one of these to push the muffler down a little bit and it worked perfect.
