New Exhaust for Mazdaspeed Proteges

Oh yeah guys when wiring up the sensor make sure you have it screwed in first, if not then you will have the wires all twisted up. When clipping the connectors in heat them up with a ligher, heatgun, or hair dryer so that it creates a seal around the connection. Use lots of electrical tape lol.

Hell yeah, guess you're the first. Any rattles or wierd noises? I know Ion's turboback rubs against stuff and makes nasty noises, just wondering if we will have any of these issues.

Did it come with heat-shrink tubing? Seems like heat-shrink tubing would be more durable and create a better seal than just using electrical tape. But I guess this is what you are talking about?

The only noise i get is from my shortshifter rubbing on the heatshield. The connectors are heat shrink tubing, i heated them up plus some electrical tape, you can't be too careful in houston. We get tons of rain over here. I haven't gotten a check engine light so everything is so far so good.

I want my exhaust!!!! Alex you got yours today and you live in texas so i should have gotten mine today but if they came by no one was here to sign for it. which means it will almost def. come tommarow. As far as i know both of our exhaust shipped out on the same day from the same place so i should like i said hopefuly see it tommarow.

Awesome. I had that short shifter noise too, but I just took off the heat shield and cut about 2 inches off the front so the shifter would clear.

Time to update the 3rd pic in your sig!

yeah i had ss noise too, and i have the twm, they send spacers to drop the heat shield out of the way, but it was too low and it rattled on the exhaust so i took out the spacers and cut a notch out of the heat shield like rob said. no noise now and i am so fcuking jelous of you alex. atlanta is probably closer to where these fcukers shipped from and my tracking info hasnt changed since 02/15. by the way that s*** looks awsome, i cant wait, hows the sound?

Are you able to get some good sound clips for those of us not lucky enough to own one of these bad boys?

Alex

I'll try to post some sound clips when i get home from work today. questions is if i do get some who will host them?

my wife just wrote me that I got a package!!!!! nows she's beibg a dick and won't tell me if it is big and says VIBRANT on the sides. I am so stoked and it won't be another wasted weekend!

Its official! its here. Although Purolator says it is still in transit. (confused)

Yippy my exhaust showed up today. damn that was quick seeing as how it was shipped out on Monday.

I know it's a s-pipe back exhaust, but then why the hell does the Web site call it a Turbo-Back??

And why would we want a exhaust that attaches to stock s-pipe, and at the stock s-pipe diameter. There's still going to be all that backpressure unless you not only get a new s-pipe, but will need a new flange as well. Maybe I just don't get it, but the s-pipe airflow restrictions, and the air disturbance @ that point makes this not seem like a great set up. But please set me strait if I'm wrong.

Umm have you looked at the s-pipe? It's like 6" long. It's not that big of a deal really.

Btw, alex, do you get any hitting on the crossmember? Mine rattles/grinds on it. I think the kartboy hangers will fix this, but not sure. Also, we couldn't use the stock nuts on the s-pipie flange. We had to grind them down. I think mine might have been slightly off... The flange before that seems like if it were tilted a little everything would fit better.

I can't get the last nut on there i only have 2 at the moment. what did you do? i mean it doesn't make any weird noise but i feel uncomfy knowing there's only 2 bolts

oh and yes my kartboy hits the sheilding alot!! i will fix it when i get home

Hey, I used a grinder and grinded the sides off of the nuts to make them fit. Are you sure the sound is your kartboy? I'm willing to bet it's your exhaust, not your shifter. When I put my shifter in I just bent the heat shield slightly and I've never had any noises from it. My exhaust makes grinding noises on start up and when I go from a stop. Does your exhaust seem to sag a little in the middle? I think with kartboy hangers mine will be perfect.
