I haven't seen anything that would indicate a mechanical LSD was included for '16. It was probably just programming changes. I saw that article last year so it has been around a while.

I have another question. The rear windscreen "sprayer". It doesn't spray. It's just a solid stream. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

No it does not "spray" like the front. It's more of a "soak"

Awesome, just wanted to be sure of it. Sadly, I think my car needs an alignment. It's slowly gnawing on the inner edge of the front tire. I figured I'd ask here before I asked the dealership about that sprayer, though!

Just to be sure, you did check the tire pressure, right? I put 38 psi when cold for all 4 GT 19" tires. I know the manual calls for 36 psi. But from my past experience, adding 2~3 psi to the spec seems to make tires wear more evenly.
I still couldn't figure out why in Europe or even Mexico in North America, their tire pressure specs have variable psi's. For GT 19" tires, they use 36~38 psi at front and 36~42 psi at rear depending on load.

Only the inner 1" of the tire is wearing poorly. Only on the right side, first the rear tire is pretty worn there, now the front tire. I think they were rotated right before I bought. I'm pretty sure it's an alignment issue and not a pressure issue. I have not verified pressure, but I have NEVER gotten tire-wear like that from low pressure before, and the pressure feels decent to the touch (I know, it can be off like that, but I got pretty good at kicking low-pro tires on my various sports cars that didn't have a TPMS value read-out and could tell when a 40 series tire was more than about 4-5psi low, so high profiles are cake to spot when a touch low).

EDIT: Nevermind. Enjoy your CX-5. I chose it over CR-V and RAV-4...no regrets

I don't have too much experience on Mazda as our CX-5 is our first Mazda. But nowadays you can do very little on front or four wheel alignment. My Honda CR-V can only do toe-in. Camber and caster are not adjustable. Your wear pattern doesn't looks like toe-in issue but camber. I'd still check the tire pressure first.

Not that I am aware, and it has a clean Carfax. The rims look flawless and it's on original OEM tires.

Well. Maybe it is a pressure issue. All th3 tires show a bit of wear on the inner 1 inch. The part that's angled. Looks like tread squirm on turn in. I'll check pressure in the morning. That part of tread isn't even on th3 ground when th3 car is sitting still.
